"Cross genre thriller in the tradition of Dean Koontz. He blends a noir, hard-nosed hero with a splash of the supernatural. Good Detailed plot that hurtles down the road at breakneck speed. Espionage, mystery, and thrill fest all in one." —Houston Chronicle

gripped me from the start to finish ....

Wow this was a total surprise. The narration and the music made this such a delight to listen to. I think all audio books should have mood music, especially thrillers like this

If you like lots of action with a complex mystery and a totally realistic plot like Robert Ludlum or Lee Child you will love this book.

The plotting and pacing was superb, It roared down the tracks at breakneck speed. It had a genuine Noir like feel even though it was set in present day. The characters were totally fleshed out and you really came to know and care for them. Today a lot of action/adventure thrillers don't bother to do this but it is essential for the effectiveness of the writing and story.

I reminded me of Lee Childs Jack Reacher, tons of action but much more character depth. Reminds me of John D MacDonald's series ... a bit noir with an affable hero who tons of quirky comic relief.
I love James Patterson's Michael Bennett series, And John Sanfords Davenport character.
There's a bit of Robert Ludlum too in the espionage angle. But the spy angle seems so authentic. I see that the author actually worked for the US State Dept. /CIA which shows in the technical details and the authenticity of the action and plot.

The hero is tough but the author showed his human side with all its weaknesses. The secondary protagonist, Julian Karswell, was fantastic. Eccentric, clever and provided some comic relief. He is a truly Sherlock Holmes type character but with a history and he's portly and is articulate.
The narrator did an excellent job jumping from British to Ameriican, to Russian and even Hungarian accents with the characters. It made them come alive.
