#1 New York Times Bestseller

Set during the time of the New York Times bestseller Powerless, fan favorite Adena gets a story all her own in this captivating novella as she attempts to survive on the streets of Loot…and falls for a mysterious—and dangerous—Elite.

Adena and Paedyn have always been inseparable. Fate brought them together when they were young, but friendship ensured they would always protect each other and the home they built in the slums of Loot. But now Paedyn—an Ordinary—has been selected for the Purging Trials, which means almost certain death.

Now alone in Loot, Adena must fend for herself. After attempting to steal, she’s rescued by a mysterious man from the market. Mak’s shadowy past and secretive power set him apart from the other low-level Elites of Loot. And as the pair team up to see their loved ones before the Trials, the quest tests their loyalty, their love, and their lives.

This novella also includes a special extended teaser to Reckless—the exciting sequel to Powerless!

Emotional & Heartbreaking🥺

Wow,,,just wow! I have read Powerless & adored Adena, so I was very excited to see her POV. I absolutely knew how her story ends, but I think that may be why it wrecked me even more? I cried harder during this than Powerless when it happens😭

I am so glad to have her story & I LOVE her & Mak. I’m fingers crossed for some more answers & answered prayers that there is a twist where there is more for them in Reckless!!

AMAZING

This book had me sobbing. Even worst when Makoto's voice actor also started to tear up.
Just amazing

Review of Powerful by Lauren Robert’s

I did a hybrid read with the audio. The audio cast did a good job.

Event though I knew what was coming this is like THE BEST NOVELA I HAVE EVER READ! . Lauren does slow burns really well. This book had me tearing up. I do have some thoughts on the ending but it was a really good book regardless. Love Lauren’s writing style. This book had so many good quotes! We got to know Adena more and come to a better understanding with her story. I did feel more for her in this book than I did in powerless since we only got a glimpse of her in that book. We got a glimpse at Kitt and Kai in this book too and made us have more of an understanding of how they felt for Pae. The fact that she met Mak surprised me because I never knew she was seeing someone during powerless.

I really wanted to love this book..

I was soo disappointed I felt this book was rushed/an after thought to distract you while waiting for the 2nd book... I really was hoping this would do a deeper dive into the "why" on what happened with Adena and why the king did what he did, and be more dramatics involved. Her finding love felt like a missed opportunity that could of been so much better than it was... I really would of loved him to of ran out to her fighting with any of the powers he had to his advantage and joined the rebellion in the end when helping them without really meaning to.. it could of gone so many ways and I wish he would of raged God I was hoping for so much more feeling in this and the voice actors didn't help this book.. so one toned... reading right from a book. :( To bad.

The emotion as the readers move through the story is absolutely impeccable!

showing a different storyline from the first one matching the events that unfold simultaneously having an entirely different experience even though the outcome is already known this only enhanced the story and the characters and their development absolutely loved it

Slightly disappointing

I liked how this book showed new sides of Adeena and it made her death more striking to me, however I had hoped that it would explain more as to why the king picked her to die, I had thought maybe she was involved in the resistance or something, and with the kings death we may never know why he did that. Also, it frustrates me that the “teaser chapter” for reckless was literally just the first chapter of Powerless, word for word. Anyone that is reading powerful has already read that, so it felt like I had been cheated 😂

Very predictable but cute

The female narrator doesn’t switch her tone of voice when speaking as a man so I got lost a few times in the dialogue. The male narrator is very robotic sounding. The story is creative and heartwarming but very predictable. It was not long enough for much character development. It’s fun to get Adeenas cheery viewpoints.

Loved it but

There are so many sentences that were changed or left out completely. While passages read aloud that aren’t in the book itself. The story was incredible but I couldn’t get over the missing or changed sentences.

Great Story. Love getting A’s side.

This is a great story, especially hearing it from his side. Heartbreaking but so intriguing. Just wish that the female narrator would’ve been better.
