About this listen

Wildlife is being slaughtered at an alarming rate near the small border town of Oroville, Washington. Unfortunately, for Game Wardens Lisa Bennington and Clay Newberry the deadly poaching spree has become a source of extreme frustration. Every potential lead ends in another dead end. Dozens of big game animals are being killed and left to rot for no apparent reason. While Lisa and Clay battle to keep up with the rapidly increasing wildlife slaughter, the local sheriff’s office is overwhelmed by the alarming rise in overdoses from fentanyl laced heroin. In Clay’s thirty-years of experience, he has never seen poaching scenes so devoid of physical evidence. These poachers leave little behind other than their footprints, and even those seem to vary from scene to scene. Lisa and Clay work to apprehend the most crafty and cautious poachers they have ever dealt with, but without witnesses or evidence, they wonder if it is even possible to put a stop to the senseless killings. With “Poaching Spree” Todd Vandivert is quickly becoming the Joseph Wambaugh of Game Warden investigative tales. “Poaching Spree” is anything but a stereotypical game warden tale. The author shows his vast field experience in the career field with his revelation of the typical investigative techniques combined with the newer techniques and equipment available. The story accurately depicts the difference yet similarities between the old school game warden and the more modern counterpart and how these two generations can effectively work together. While the story is classified as fiction, similar investigative methods are still being used by most wardens who have ever donned a uniform. If you want to read a great investigative story that is atypical of similar police novels. Don’t miss “Poaching Spree”. Great listen for all hunters

I was not aware that this scale of poaching occurred in the US. Kind of sad what people will do to get money for drugs.
