Body count, love at first sight and “mine”

This was a good listen. I’m not a fan of the narrator and prefer the narrator for Karen Roses’s Baltimore series. If you’ve ever read Karen Rose you’ll recognize her typical format of a villain that leaves a large body count; a man who falls In love and (in bed) with the woman who is in danger; and inevitably comes to the conclusion that the girl is ”mine”. This booked lacked any mystery and was more a follow the villian and figure out where they are. It kept me listening which I guess is the main thing.

Enjoyable but falling shy of great

I liked this book by Karen Rose though it had a few flaws that kept me from loving it. First of all as an audio selection the narrator was not great. She sounded like she was speaking in a monotone for most of it and I found it distracting. All the male voices sounded the same and that was also grating. The amusing thing is that the narrator has a voice that sounds like Ellen Degeneres but with limited inflection. Weird.

Anyway the story itself was pretty good. The villain was ruthless and pure evil but what I liked the most is that the cruelest criminal in a long list of them was female. I liked Dana to an extent. She was too reactive and emotional for my taste. She didn't use her obvious intelligence when it would have best served her and that bothered me. I liked Ethan a little more but their romance was a little too fast. I felt like it was rushed.

There were some procedure things that got to me a bit. Like after being kidnapped and assaulted the victim was not taken to the hospital or processed for evidence. There were some other glaring issues but I know the author has corrected some of them in more recent efforts. All in all I would say 3.5 stars.

Terrible male accents

OMG why did all the make characters have to have the same lousy Southern or Chicago accents. this almost ruined the book for me.

such a good story. I absolutely loved it. read it (listened to it) in one day. i can't Waite to start the next one. Thank you karen rose for another wonderful tale.

Gripping story!

From the very first page, you are immersed in action and terror. The story itself is compelling. The characters are realistic and relatable. My only problem was the overwhelming amount of characters and that's a me thing.

I love this series and its plethora of characters. I just need to keep a "Cast of Characters" index.

Great story line

This was a great listen. Narration was perfect. It keeps you guess throughout the book. My only feedback would be for the author to use only first names...towards the end of book she would jump back and forth and it did get confusing.

This book was written wonderfully, I couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to the next book!!
