Acerca de esta escucha

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable. If we can conquer outer space, we can conquer inner space, too.

Christopher Reeve has mastered the art of turning the impossible into the inevitable. In Nothing Is Impossible, Reeve shows that we are all capable of overcoming seemingly insurmountable hardships. He interweaves anecdotes from his own life with excerpts from speeches and interviews he's given.

Reeve teaches us that for able-bodied people, paralysis is a choice - a choice to live with self-doubt and a fear of taking risks - and that it is not an acceptable one. Reeve knows from experience that the work of conquering inner space is hard and that it requires some suffering - after all, nothing worth having is easy to get. He asks challenging questions about why it seems so difficult - if not impossible - for us to work together as a society. He steers the reader gently, offering his reflections and guidance but not the pat answers that often characterize inspirational works.

Published on the eve of both his fiftieth birthday and the seventh anniversary of his spinal cord injury, Christopher Reeve's Nothing Is Impossible reminds us that life is not to be taken for granted but to be lived fully with zeal, curiosity, and gratitude. That is a powerful message in itself, but it is the messenger who gives it its full resonance.

Facets of an extraordinary life. There is little that Reeves doesn't touch in in this... sadly last memoir of his. Humor, coping, setbacks, breakthroughs... this one has it all. Highly recommend.

Would you consider the audio edition of Nothing Is Impossible to be better than the print version?

This audiobook is priceless, because it is narrated by Reeve himself. This gives the whole experience a special dimention.

I really enjoyed this book. Me. Reeve went into details about his personal struggles that made me feel as if I were there living it with him. What a strong person one has to be to endure something like this. God Bless him and his family. I’m sad that he couldn’t live long enough to see how far he could have gone. I’m especially sad that his wife had to endure her own struggles and face terminal cancer so soon after her husband’s passing. May they both Rest In Peace.

Really Enjoyed It

Because this is an audiobook here, and not just the written word, the first thing I should say is that the narration by Christopher Reeve is just fantastic. The content is also pretty good, but it does seem to wander off the topic you'd expect, as the previous reviewer noted. However, Nothing Is Impossible still manages to make it's point without relying too much on the late Mr. Reeve's disability. I consider this book to have been 3 or so hours well spent, leaving me with a lesson that I may have already known, but sometimes it pays to hear it again from someone with a profound perspective.

Good book, Wanders, But Comes Home.
