Loved this story!

If you like Norse Mythology, you will love this book! It covers all the major Gods of the Norse mythos and it is an easy read/listen. It is very much a survey of the gods, rather than a deep in depth look at everything, but I really liked that. It gave me everything I wanted to know, and a bit more, and it was easily digested. Some mythology books can be so boring and dull and this is definitely NOT one of those. I highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys history and/or just wants to brush up on their Norse mythology knowledge.

Norse Mythology

This introduction to Norse gods is pretty good.It connects the old stories with the current spat of super heros we have in cinema. Christopher Knight was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Norse mythology information for Marvel fans

Great information for people who need background knowledge of Norse mythology.
Great for Marvel fans who are familiar with Norse mythology. A bit repetitive but very thorough. Not meant to be an academic type book, just informative. It does a great job at that.

Connects the Norse Mythos to Modern Culture

I have always been fascinated by the ancient myths and few are as captivating as those of the Norse peoples. Therefore, I am always happy to pick up a volume surveying them. This volume’s major contribution is not its recounting of the Norse stories, but it’s significant look at how those myths and the gods that people them have been utilized in the Marvel Comics universe and its many television, movie, and video game spinoffs. Marvel has arguably been more responsible for the current popularity of the Norse mythology than any other single person or corporation, so it was nice to see a compilation of how they’ve utilized this material.

I also think it’s worth noting the superb reading of narrator Christopher Knight. Not all Norse names are as easy to pronounce as Thor or Odin, but Knight makes them all sound easy and that was an amazing accomplishment.

I received this book for free from Audiobook Boom in exchange for an honest review.

Norse Mythology

This is a quick listen that gives you a look at some of the more familiar Norse Gods. Listeners are given a little bit of information about these Gods and then given a lot of information on contemporary Marvel movies and their tie to the Norse mythology of the God that is being talked about. The same few myths are repeated numerous times alongside the same details about Ragnarök. If you are looking for information regarding the connection to Marvel this is a book for you. This book only introduces a few of the Norse Gods and repeats much of the information over and over. It would have been nice to see different Gods and Goddesses included in this and different myths. Narrator Christopher Knight does a good job of keeping the narration moving at a good pace. I received a free review audiobook and voluntarily left this review.

Not what you'd expect

So if you are looking for the actual stories of the Norse gods, this isn't the book for you. If you want to know about the fictional characters in video games, comics, and movies then you might like this.

Each chapter is extremely....to the point of annoying...repetitive. Saying the same thing over and over.

The book was so bad that I didn't even finish it. The only good part was the narration. With that being said, I was given this book free of charge and have chosen to leave an unbiased review.
