Acerca de esta escucha

The Strange Death of Europe is a highly personal account of a continent and culture caught in the act of suicide. Declining birth rates, mass immigration, and cultivated self-distrust and self-hatred have come together to make Europeans unable to argue for themselves and incapable of resisting their own comprehensive alteration as a society and an eventual end.

This is not just an analysis of demographic and political realities; it is also an eyewitness account of a continent in self-destruct mode. It includes accounts based on travels across the entire continent, from the places where migrants land to the places they end up, from the people who pretend they want them to the places which cannot accept them.

Murray takes a step back at each stage and looks at the bigger and deeper issues which lie behind a continent's possible demise, from an atmosphere of mass terror attacks to the steady erosion of our freedoms. The audiobook addresses the disappointing failure of multiculturalism, Angela Merkel's U-turn on migration, the lack of repatriation, and the Western fixation on guilt. Murray travels to Berlin, Paris, Scandinavia, Lampedusa, and Greece to uncover the malaise at the very heart of the European culture and to hear the stories of those who have arrived in Europe from far away.

This sharp and incisive audiobook ends up with two visions for a new Europe - one hopeful, one pessimistic - which paint a picture of Europe in crisis and offer a choice as to what, if anything, we can do next. But perhaps Spengler was right: 'civilizations, like humans, are born, briefly flourish, decay, and die'.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"This is a vitally important book, the contents of which should be known to everyone who can influence the course of events, at this critical time in the history of Europe." (Sir Roger Scruton)

Appalling European government crime cover up.

Where does The Strange Death of Europe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is an excellent book. I can now understand what is going on in Europe and make sense of all the contradictory reports I hear on the news and watch on TV. I am appalled by the government cover up of crime against women in all European countries. I hope Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reads this book and understands what has happened in Europe with respect to immigration and Islam.

What does Robert Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Robert Davies is able to communicate with the tone of his voice again and again facts which seem incredulous to the listener. I found myself shaking my head time and time again.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I don't think Hollywood will be able to find a super hero in this book, and that’s all Hollywood can do anymore.

Europe is Dying

Douglas Murray is a great writer, and he relates a horrifying story about the failed project of multiculturalism of Europe. In reading this book, one may feel a strong sense of irony that leftist politicians push immigrants onto their communities when many of these communities suffer from unemployment, overcrowding, budget constraints, and a high cost of living. The current state of Europe is the perfect storm for a resurgence of ethnic nationalism and prejudice.

The most important book you'll read this year.

If you could sum up The Strange Death of Europe in three words, what would they be?

Oh Europe, what a shame. Douglas Murray is the perfect person to write this eulogy, and he has done so with characteristic mastery. Hard to believe that an entire continent could take centuries to achieve so much for humanity, then bring it all to ruin in a matter of decades. Laudable intentions; cataclysmic execution. Let this be a cautionary tale for the rest of the Western world. Europe is fallen.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. Could not stop listening or thinking about it.

Superior work

The title when first encountered struck me as hyperbolic. Having heard the book, perhaps it is somehow understated.
Murray possesses a truly graceful style underpinned by unusually perceptive and crisp analysis with extremely well-chosen and relevant examples.
The pessimism found in the concluding chapters is no doubt warranted.
Highly recommend! 6 stars

Very insightful

Murray presented a well researched subject to his readers with great care in a flowing style. Anyone with an interest in this subject will find this book helpful. Davies did an excellent job narrating the book

So true!

The dilemma of Europe excellently researched and summarized. Being from Germany I could not just relate, but fully appreciate the case made on immigration politics and dynamics. Well done.

A great discussion of culture

Questions that we should be asking ourselves.
Do we allow politicians to make all of these decisions or de we have any influence

Best listen of the year, maybe longer

The author has two qualities rarely found together, intelligence and bravery. This most compelling of topics normally sends our best minds to the most convenient, less critical side but this author has taken it on in all it’s thorny complexity. Bravo.

Great listen

Witty, disturbing and informative..
I couldn't put it down, and now I am on to getting Madness of Crowds.
Douglas Murray is a great writer, and Robert Davies great narrator and performs surprisingly great European accents to accompany the statements of the political class all across Europe.

Great information.

I really did enjoy the book. I felt like there should have been a little more objectivity in the writing, but based on the information delivered I understand the alarm. I would recommend this book to any liberal who thinks that there are no negative outcomes from being too liberal.
