Mistake on Chapter 30 ..so far

Paul says how do you say “you should have Lunch” native speaker Hirumi says “you should have breakfast “ he says Hirugohan she says asagohan. Will there be more errors on following chapters? Will see…

I wish there was more!

I loved this course. it is so easy to follow and I learned a lot. I just wish there was more!

Second book in this series

This is a continuation from the first course by Paul Noble which is required ti listed first before tackling this one. This books follows the same recipe as the first one and I’ve found both books to be very effective in my journey of leaning Japanese.

Outstanding

Simply the best! I picked up the first course two months before visiting Japan and was able to get around great and impress some new friends. Repitieron, explanations, and plenty of time between prompts to remember and construct sentences

Quite a few errors in this one…

For example: “how do you say yesterday?” At the start of chapter 47… the response was はい

Easy and fun

Easy and fun. I wish Paul Noble would continue this series of books and go deeper into the language. Alas, I shall still go on to learn more elsewhere.

Great but

This is a great way to practice speaking and does awsome job following up the first book, but in chapter 44 this a part where he will have you say a sentence that he doesn't teach you until about 3 minutes later. I've only seen this once but it's still a great listen.

Useful next steps.

I cannot comment on the first book but the second is useful for intermediate learners, providing nice coverage of verb conjugations using a few common core words like "go", "read", "buy" et cetera. Having listened to a lot of audiobooks that just through set phrases and vocabulary at you I found this book's systematic treatment pretty refreshing. One note about "pork bone" mentioned in other reviews: Tonkatsu (pork bone) ramen is an extremely popular dish here on Japan, so I think including that word is useful, though maybe a bit pedantic. I guess the only issue is that the systematic approach and short duration means that the book only covers fairly limited (though, as I said, useful) vocabulary.

Excellent method for learning a foreign language, just watch for the technical hiccough at chapter 43!

I've been thoroughly enjoying my Paul Nobel language books and have been learning Japanese on my half-hour commute to work and back each day. Please be aware, however, the order of chapters is a bit messed up in the middle, with the audio for chapter 44 coming before the audio for chapter 43. That threw me for a minute! ☺️
