Read this free excerpt from the audiobook:

"A narcissist is almost like a balloon when it comes to their need for being constantly admired or praised. They essentially start to deflate when they are not receiving these. Their craving for attention is obsessive, resulting in their relationships being one-sided. If someone in their life is not providing them with constant praise, they feel betrayed.

"Their sense of entitlement makes them truly believe that if they want something, they absolutely deserve it. They expect those around them to always give in and comply with all of their wants and wishes. Once a person is no longer compliant, the narcissist views them as no longer valuable. They will tell people who do not comply that they are selfish and may even get aggressive when their wishes are not granted without question."

Most succinctly explained audiobook

This is one of the most succinctly explained audiobooks on narcissism any listener will be easily able to understand. The short exercises help you to not only understand the narcissist but more importantly your own vulnerabilities to their projections. This is an excellent primer on narcissism.

Great source!

By listening the audiobook, I have learned that narcissists battle feelings of unimportance and insecurity and often use others as a source of self-esteem. Helping us was just his way of gaining recognition, attention and approval from others. Narcissists are hungry for praise and gratitude. They don't play fair, and when given the chance to get an advantage, it's a safe bet that they will try every time.

Great resource!

This is a good resource, which gives history, descriptors and advice. I felt like the book had more info about the grandiosity narcissist than the vulnerable narcissist. Maybe it's because grandiosity is more noticeable?! Not sure. Some of the background information, about the studies done over the years, sheds light on the main self. It was quite interesting and revealing.

Eye opener

This is very informative! A real eye opener! Well read and delivered. I would recommend this book to a couple people that needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. Definitely recommend to those who need to evaluate their friends and inner circle. Best take away nuggets is how they would rather have quantity and not quality of friendship. And living bigger than their means. I know quite a few that need this book

A Real Eye-Opener For Me

Narcissism was a great listen and an eye-opener for me. There are those that are the obvious narcissists and those that are subtle and hard to identify. This audiobook taught me a few ways of handling the narcissists in my life. I also learned the hard way that the minute you set boundaries, they know you're off limits. This book let me know that I'm doing the right things to address this issue. What I learned is they can and will wipe out a persons self esteem. A narcissist can be a partner, friend, parent, child, brother, sister, or co-worker. A narcissist is a bully.

I liked the author Geoffrey Loren's approach to this hugely serious issue. And I liked his suggestion on perhaps not calling someone out on their behavior as it will possibly anger them and won't really stop the negative behavior. In the end, the narcissist will learn that their actions are only self-destructive.

Leigh Adams narration was very well done. He had a nice voice and was easy to understand.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my own request, and voluntarily leave this review.

Great audiobook

The author must have never lived with or under a narcissist. While the author suggests changing them the best solution is to just stay away. The audiobook will help you understand more about the orange world leader.
