About this listen

Dan's life was quite ordinary until the day he woke up in a hospital room, not knowing what had happened to him. Somehow he was different, very different. He was first aware of the thoughts of others. He could read them. At first his abilities were limited, so he did not know of the dangers that the men sent to find him posed.

Now his life is in peril. Someone out there is trying to kidnap him so they can use his powers for their own purposes. Aliens and secret agencies are both looking for him. He must figure out who he can trust before it's too late. He is becoming the Millennium Man.

Love the story.

There is a great story in this book but it feels incomplete.
It is well written, the recording needs fixing, not that it’s bad it’s just that you can hear every time that it’s edited.
Beside that it’s a beautiful short story with an excellent possibility for a series.

Interesting premise, not so great execution

I thought this sounded like a great story and jumped at the chance to listen. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. In one part of the story a certain character is described as impatient and not known for his smarts. A few minutes later, the same character is coming up with all the ideas to catch the millennium man. At the same time, the millennium man can read minds but the character just won’t say what he thinks so the millennium man won’t know the plan??? There were just several things that didn’t work. It doesn’t seem to be very well thought out. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Interesting idea

The idea behind aliens in this book is really interesting but I felt it was a bit under developed. Considering how advanced they are their method for keeping watch really doesn't make much sense.

There is lots of action and the military aspects are interesting. I thought the characters were a bit underdeveloped but were getting there. It also ended too soon, it felt incomplete, like I'd reached half way only to find the second half missing.

I enjoyed it but felt it didn't fulfill it's potential.

The narration was good, the character voices were well done, and the delivery matched the tone of the story.

Good story

I enjoyed this book a lot but wished it had been a bit longer. Things happened pretty quickly and I felt the story could have been fleshed out more.
I’d even like some back story....

INTERESTING AND ENTERTAINING MIND GAMES!

Mind games! What a tangled web we weave....

Very engaging story, I thought it was very nicely done, and enjoyed the story throughout.
I think the concept was super interesting, and was well written.

I thought the narration was very good, and I would enjoy listening to more by both author and narrator.

Entertaining! Not super long and very entertaining story :)

A Good Short Story

I have listened to a few of Clark Graham’s books and really enjoyed them. This short story was no exception. I found Millennium Man to be very interesting and I think the idea could be expanded to a novel or series.

The narration was decent. I have certainly heard worse. Felt like a narration rather than being part of the story.

What would you do if you could read minds?

Millenium Man fits right in with our modern Cinema. It feels like it could have been a part of the X-men series, or the X-Files, hard to tell. But imagine waking up and findout out that you were reading the minds of thse around you. Then imagine your power starting to grow. Then imagine someone wanting that power and hunting you like a dog.

The story has 2 strikes against it, the first I can overlook. It comes across as a Young Adult style tale, but never says that is what it is. That is fine, I just wish I had known that was what kind of story it was. The second is some crappy editing. It is noticable and distracting, and that is a real problem. I can get sold a romance story as being a fantasy, so long as it has fantasy elements and is a good story, but crappy editing in just shoddy. It is like printing a book with wet ink, and smooshing the pages all together before they were totally dry. It makes it hard to read. This isn't that bad, but it did make it hard to listen to, and threw me from the story when it happened. Roberts himself does a good job reading the story, but then good with bad editing . . .

For these reasons I did drop some stars. The story is worth it, so give it a try, and hopefully they will clean up the audio. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Sci-Fi Easy Read

While based in Sci-fi - Dan is beamed up by aliens and enhanced so that he can speak mind-to-mind and hear other people’s thoughts; this story is really about avoiding the sinister earth group that wants to capture him. If they can’t control him, they’ll just kill him so the aliens will enhance the next Millennium Man, who they will try to capture.
A story is written so that it’s almost like vignettes strung together, so there’s less detail and more action. It’s an easy listen Sci-Fi time-out.
Roberts does s good job of narration. Enjoy!
