About this listen

From a USA TODAY best-selling author and read by an Audie award-winning narrator.

Being town marshal is no job for a lady, but Danna Carpenter is determined to prove herself to everyone who doubts her. That includes tenderfoot detective Chas O’Grady, who arrives in town on the hunt for cattle rustlers.

City slicker Chas finds nothing but trouble in the small Wyoming town and surrounding wilderness. With no one else to rely on, detective and marshal strike a deal to work together.

When they are pushed into a marriage of convenience, Chas and Danna must learn to open their hearts—or lose everything.

Marrying Miss Marshal

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

This is an interesting twist on historical fiction. The heroine is the marshal of Calvin, Wyoming appointed after her husband's death. Along comes city guy cattle rustling investigator. Both of these people have pasts that cause them not to trust, and wanting to hide feelings. Throw in a town that has its own secrets, Bank robbers, and cattle rustlers and you have a novel packed with action. I hope to see more from this author.

Something in this story for everyone!

Enjoyed the story very much! What a great listen.
The way the reader reads this you can really imagine you're there. She does voices very well and this is the first one I've liked.
Romance, suspence and adventure in one story. Something for everyone!

no twists or surprises

I did enjoy listening to this book over all but found the story line completely predictable and other parts repeated so often it became redundant and still other parts a little far fetched or too contrived.

Adventurous Western Romance

Would you consider the audio edition of Marrying Miss Marshal to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version, but I enjoyed this story very much.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Danna, the marshall, was my favorite character. She was strong, yet unsure of herself in many ways. That combo of strength and vulnerability was well written.

What about Laural Merlington’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed her voice for Danna quite a bit.

If you could take any character from Marrying Miss Marshal out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Corrinne, Danna's friend, because I think she needs a break and a some time with a friend. ;)

A Woman Marshal???

Marrying Miss Marshal is a story of Danna Carpenter and Chas O'Grady. Danna has became the town marshal of Calvin, after her husband's death (who is also a Marshal). She is trying to find who has killed her husband and at the same time, trying to earn the respect of the town people doing a man's job.

Chas came to Calvin to investigate cattle rustling. The last thing he expected was to be rescued twice by a female marshal and to be attracted to her. He is also hunted by the death of a woman, whom he failed to save.

Both characters are trying to deal with the demons of their past. Danna has grew up thinking that no one wants her but she still has faith in God. When she is in a difficult situation, she still trusted God that he is with her and will deliver her help. Chas has stopped believing in God. He has several issues to work out. Meeting Dana has helped him to realize several things in his past and what is important to him.

Marrying Miss Marshal is also about a woman doing a man's job during this period. Even though Danna is capable of doing the job of a marshal, she is faced with obstacles being hazed by the town council and ostracized by the women folks. The only thing that allow the town people to accept her is that her husband was the town marshal before his demise.

One of the other hypocrite of the town people is that they expects Dana to be a lady. So whenever Dana tried to gather a posse, she doesn't get help. If Dana is able to get a posse, she is expected to return back to town at a decent time and not to spend a night with men. Oh, the irony of the situation for a woman in law enforcement.

The narrator, Laural Merlington does a good job in narrating the story. Her voice and tone does capture my attention but it is not a memorable voice that sticks out among the many narrators. The narrator is perfect for this genre and possibly great to continue as the narrator for the Wyoming's Legacy.

I was given this audiobook by the author via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.

Marrying Miss Marshal

I bought this title because I thought a female Marshal was an interesting idea.

I didn't like the way the men in this story treated Danna for most of the book. It felt very unchivalrous in a time when most decent men treated decent women with respect.

I did like the gift that Chas presented Danna with.
