At its essence, marketing today is about answering one question: “How can we be heard?” How can we rise above the din of infinite options to create sustainable meaning with an audience or group of customers? Following the old rules of digital engagement is not enough...not nearly enough. Even being "great" is insufficient in the face of overwhelming competition redefining the limits of excellence every day.

Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

Why is Red Bull so popular, though everyone—everyone!—hates the taste? Humans are, in a word, irrational, basing decisions as much on subtle external signals (that little blue can) as on objective qualities (flavor, price, quality). The surrounding world, meanwhile, is irreducibly complex and random. This means future success can’t be projected on any accounting spreadsheet. To strike gold, you must master the dark art and curious science of conjuring irresistible ideas: alchemy.

Another winner from Schaefer
Every time Mark Schaefer writes a book I buy it. And every time I do, I am not disappointed. He always sees over the horizon and helps us know what's coming, not how to address what we already know. Data and story rich. Highly recommend for anyone who is serious about taking their marketing past Google Adwords and Facebook ads.

A needed challenge to the status quo
Mark really challenges me in his book. A good challenge, which included encouraging stories and examples of this marketing rebellion in action, but definitely challenging to my current way of doing things. Even as we see the rebellion and embrace it, we continue to do what we know. With Mark’s way of laying it all out, there’s hope that we can shrug the shackles of “we’ve always done it this way” and the chains of “get me a dashboard to show ROI right now” and put on the freeing cape of MORE HUMAN MARKETING. A must read for anyone in business today.

Be a rebel. But be warned: Mark shows you how.
There's that voice in the back of your head that nags at you - something has to change. Usually kicked off while sitting at a Marcom boardroom and another "let's take this offline" or "We're really happy where we ended up with this creative" (before the agency pitches an idea that requires shots of Kool Aid to wash it down).
Mark takes you through the uncomfortable reality of where you are now. How impossible it is - both the current state of marketing and that feeling that it can't be changed. But he does take you through the other side. This is not a book of wistful theory. It is a book based on fundamentals (including the prized and still relevant fundamentals of Kotler), of observations sifted through Mark's own rational and innovative brain cells and grounded in Marketers daily realities, via interviews presented in Mark's signature storytelling fashion.
I choose to listen to Mark's books. Because it reminds me of hearing him speak. No other business author or speaker will have you laughing out loud as much as Mark. Beyond the lessons of his books, take note of his storytelling gift. How he introduces you to a point, how he illustrates it in a story - with clarity and wonder. And how this leads to your solution - specific and actionable.
Be ready for solutions to your specific marketing challenges to pop in to your head while listening to this audiobook. Now go forth and change the world.

A book for humans and well those in business too.
I am not sure I would even do this book justice.
But I will share my story and experience.
Which considering this book and its focus is well, kinda spot on!
I was in the entrepreneurship world 2 times before. I learned lessons and pick up some gems along the way-thankful.
I have 2 new projects and I knew I needed a different approach, a different plan this time.
So since the beginning of 2019 I have been digging deep and listening to business-related books, self-development from women thought leaders and now in the marketing space.
Since I was not a business major, nor did my healthcare degree require any business classes - I know I needed more knowledge.
When I first started this book thought " he sounds like Ferris Bueller" ( I think he does)
Back to the book.
I feel like not only have I learned some powerful business insight - I have learned to be a different human.
The case studies and examples are pretty EPIC.
Learned a lot about my favorite brands. Learned I need to shop at Room & Board (ha).
I also learned that I need to dig deeper into the brands I like, follow and trust, and re-exam some too.
I am so thankful for this book.
I am of the thought that even if you are not in business, business owner or in marketing - there are lesson and skills in this book that are of VALUE and meaning.
This could be of value for healthcare - perhaps can spark a revolution there!
I move forward in my projects with a much better understanding of "meaning, purpose and marketing"
Thank you
