About this listen

This box set includes all three books in the bestselling Mage's Apprentice series, complete with sinister magic, nonstop action, enemies-to-lovers romance, and twists you won't see coming!

A magic-less thief apprenticed to the strongest Mage on the New York City Council. What could possibly go wrong . . .

Aspen is a Norm. A non-magic. A human. And in this supernatural city, that's a quick way to wind up dead. Or worse.

She didn't plan on becoming an apprentice to Lucien Dunadine, one of the strongest members on the Council of Mages.

She really didn't plan on taking part in a deadly competition against Isak Uchida, her handsome, aggravating, deadly opponent.

But with something sinister going down in the magic boroughs, they'll all have to work together if they want to uncover the source of an ancient evil threatening their home. An evil that will take them from the supernatural streets of New York to the magic-filled Highlands of Scotland; from facing off against the vicious Kings of Magic to taking on the most powerful dark force their world has ever known.

And if they fail, everyone and everything they love will be consumed by darkness.

well written book

This was a well written book with mages as a governing body and an evil villain that will take over the world if not defeated. It focuses on one young girl that gets roped into being a mage's apprentice - and her journey. Enjoy!

Worth Every Penny

An intricately woven plot with characters you can emphasize with and root for. 32 hours of action, angst, budding romance and of course in this one Three for the price Big Bads. Don't think this is your usual growing up and coming into magic tale, it is as refreshing as a new day. You will go from one book to the next, because you HAVE to know what is going to happen next. A not to be missed trilogy by Sean Fletcher. Emily Lawrence brings life to the characters and scenes as the superb narrator she is.

Good book not great

Not great but worth the read. I was still stuck to it even though it was just ok.

Meh

Not bad, but not great. There's a lot of inconsistencies with the story and many times where I wanted to shout at the characters for not seeing the obvious answer staring them in the face.

I only finished the first book, and I don't think I'll bother with the rest. Overall, the story is predictable. Anyone in authority is lazy and/or corrupt, leaving the least likely person to swoop in and save the day with a heaping dose of last minute super powers that she doesn't understand how to use yet still manages to beat people with far more experience and skill. The two least likely people to trust anyone (something they bring up often) fall insta-love for each other in a matter of 3 days; fighting & trying to kill each other are merely flirting.

That said, it was interesting enough that I finished the book. Just not enough for me to want to invest more time into it.
