Great, edgy story! Well done!

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and I loved getting to know Isla better. There is a lot more under the surface and it was great seeing her finally start to show that a little more. When an attempted abduction happens in the parking garage and Rowan and Levi thwart it, Isla is brought back to the nest. It puts her in close proximity with Levi and things start coming out, like his obsession with her. She makes him feel and that isn't something that he really knows how to deal with. He has shut a lot of things down and doesn't allow himself to care for most people and he has trained himself to be a deadly predator in order to protect the ones he loves. I loved the connection between Isla and Levi and how Isla really was never afraid of Levi and his ability to be dangerous turned her on. She liked that he watched her, stalked her, for years rather than it scaring her it made her feel safe. Isla has her own traumatic past that she has found coping mechanisms to deal with and she refuses to allow them to win by not living life. I love the strength that Levi gives her and how he helps her to stand up for herself and fight her own battles, but knowing that he will always have her back and be there, that she isn't alone. This book continues with the Crows digging into the secret society and starting to put names and faces to it. They are set to take it out and when it starts coming together that Isla has pieces of the puzzle and starts helping them make those connections and putting pieces together, it becomes clear that she is a part of it and what happened to her years ago and what is being attempted now all ties in. There is a trafficking ring. This story handled the hard things well. The story does have that darker vibe to it, especially with our hero and the Crowned Crows being morally grey and not afraid to step across the line. They have their own moral compass that drives them and they will see justice given one way or another. This one does end on a cliffhanger and I had to start the next book right away. This was well done and I can't wait to see what comes next.
The narrators did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. I really enjoyed listening to this one.
