About this listen

I couldn't do broken. Broken is what he was. Broken is what I will always be.

To his eyes that held so much despair, I couldn't look for long. To his fist, that clenched so tightly, like he was locking away the sorrow. To his lips, that never uttered a word, from the years of heartbreak.

And despite it all, I couldn't stay away from him. It was like he was drowning in an ocean, and I wanted to grab his face, and whisper to his lips, "Don't forget to breathe."

This was how I fell for a man. A man who was so lovesick, I was afraid he would drown me in that same ocean he was lost in.

Mixed feelings...

I am not sure how I feel about this book. At times it was a little confusing and depressing. The three male friends were a strange combo that I could never understand their dynamic. I felt sorry for Cole and then hated what happened to him in the end. Then I couldn't see how someone who was in love with him could fall in love with someone else so quickly, especially given her history. It had a nice ending, but I really didn't like the story overall, as it was too depressing for me. The narration was well performed.

Omg I just want to wrap the h up in a warm hug 😢 Have tissues ready, there's a lot to feel, not just her story.
Rock with a British accent ❤️ this is such a depressing listen I can't muster any enthusiasm.

PURE PERFECTION!

Would you listen to Lovesick again? Why?

Absolutely!! I'm far from an audiobook junkie, I'm really, really picky, but if I had to name one book I loved to listen to, it'd be Lovesick for sure. The female lead is simply phenomenal! I can't grab my jaw up from the floor. Awesome, fabulous, mind-blowing!

Amazing!

So much better than expected! And the voices were a perfect pairing to the characters in the book!

Nope.

Theirs was annoying. It felt like there was shock value just for the sake of it. 3 loves I’m one book my? No!
Some chapters end and started so abruptly I kept thinking the recording was skipping. But no . Especially the chapter right before the shit hits the fan for the 3rd time. “He was smiling for the first time….” Blah blah boom!!!!
Then there was the male narrator. If this is his natural way of talking then sincere apologies. But I think it was his acting for the role and he sounded drunk most of the time or constantly on the brink of tears. I had to stop listening and read his parts.
This missed the mark for me completely but I’m sure many like the soap opera quality of the story, just not for me. I would not call this a romance. Just a story of a woman with immense bad luck who falls in love easily.

WOW... I TOTALLY MISJUDGED THIS BOOK

BEWARE:- SPOLER ALERT... SPOILER ALERT... SPOILER ALERT... SPOILER ALERT

For over five hours I listened to the 'present' chapters as the damaged and scarred heroine slowly built her confidence back up after an abusive marriage.. and I listened to the 'past' chapters where the undamaged hero meets, falls in love and becomes a loving father. I listened to the present day as the broken hero and heroine avoid eye contact.. nervously talk.. tentatively touch.. then become intimate.. and, with each step, I hoped and I planned for a better future for them. But then the author suddenly ripped everything away with a heartbreaking shocking scene that left me speechless because I had no idea that the two main characters wouldn't both make it to the HEA.. instead a secondary character/best friend who had been in the background and the foreground got that role in the last hour.

Worth a credit? I love a slow-build as much as an instant romance - an easy-going romance or an angsty drama filled one. But, what I don't like, is a tragedy happening to the totally broken hero (who I'd grieved with and hoped for.. for most of the listen) just as he was starting to love again with what remained of his shattered heart after five long grief stricken celibate years. It ripped my heart out and left me in such a low mood even if there was a HEA ending - and yes, I know there'll be plenty of people who will love this.. but sadly I'm just not one of them.. and so I have to say.. sorry no, imo, not worth one of my credits.

Hated it!

Why?? Just why?? I hate what happened. So unfair. Wish I had never read it.
