About this listen

Moving back home to my parents' cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I'd be doing. But, here I stand...in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I'm still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat. The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won't remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most. But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it's not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels series.

Sounds Ike the beginning of a great series

I loved this story. A story of a farm family.. 2 girls and their 4 beautiful brothers. It has a lot of laughs throughout...lots of touching moments and a true love story. There are several books ...this is the first and I loved it.

Loved the story

Wow, I have no words to express how much I loved Lost Love, the first book in the Cowboys & Angels series by Kelly Elliott and narrated by Joe Hempel and Lauren Sweet who were both new to me.

What a great start to her new series, this book had it all. My heart just about broke for Paxton and at times I feared she would never recover. Enter Steed Parker, the love of her life and the man that hurt her beyond measure. Lost Love is a second chance at love and what a spectacular love story it is.

I fell in love with all the characters in this book, particularly Chloe, who throughout the book made my heart melt and really stole the show. What a courageous and beautiful little girl and her dad Steed, isn't too bad either.

This was one of those books I wanted to take slowly to savour the story and yet I found myself riveted as I listened well into the night until suddenly I had finished it.

I loved the banter between Steed and his brothers and sisters; their scenes together made for some snort worthy moments throughout the book.

Lost Love deals with some serious heartache, but it also shows how determination, forgiveness, love and hope can overcome such tragedy and make a difference.

The narrators did a great job throughout the book and made the story even more enjoyable to listen too. They certainly tugged at my emotions as they narrated the book and did justice to the story.

This will not be the last time I listen to Joe Hempel and Lauren Sweet

Wonderful story. Cleo was the star of the story. Now I’m waiting to listen to book two.

Not a fan of the female narrator

I normally don't comment, but book previews should give you a clip of each narrator's voice. The female narrator in this book made me cringe. This book was the first I had ever considered stopping before finishing because the whiney/nasally/lispy female voice became so irritating to me.

Good with few comments....

Hard to like this heroine. She pushes the limits of how long she can punish the hero for a bad mistake 10 years ago when she knew she wanted to be with him before he ever came back. Female narrator didn't help much since she's very nasally and high pitched. Seems that's the trend for young women these days but sure is distracting during the sex scenes. Ha! Texas accent needs some work, too. Her male voice was better so I'm guessing her real voice is probably just fine. lol Joe Hempel was very good. The brothers are typical of young guys these days -- brash, crass and crude but at least, these guys have manners sometimes.

So the story was good despite the prolonged punishment. Love the emphasis on family. Got some feels, angst, and nice HEA.

enjoyed it

For the most part I enjoyed this audible romance. Steel was a little over the top at times. All the 'I So Sorry' really started to annoy me. For such a big tough man, He sounded like a cry baby.

Dull and Not Believable

I really wanted to like this book, as it was an interesting setup starting a long series. I hoped to get immersed in this world. But the characters just weren’t believable. The main characters and most supporting characters were incredibly good and perfect, and the only one that wasn’t wholly good was wholly vile. They weren’t nuanced at all, and the actions they took weren’t credible. Also, there was no conflict — or more accurately, the only real conflict in the book was over after the first quarter — so hours of listening (despite two good narrators who did their best with the two-dimensional characters) was deadly dull. It just isn’t interesting to read scene after scene about too-good-to-be-true characters being perfect and blissfully happy.
