About this listen

A traditional Regency romance - drawing room rather than bedroom.

Lord Montague Marford is looking forward to a quiet life as clergyman of a rural parish where he can hope to do some good. But sometimes his compassionate nature gets him into trouble, and when a bedraggled young woman turns up on the doorstep to call in a long-forgotten debt, Monty’s sense of honour compels him to offer to marry her. But he soon begins to wonder if he’s made a huge mistake.

Miss Melissa Frost is very grateful, and thrilled to find herself surrounded by luxury. It’s just like a fairy tale, and although Monty is an unlikely prince, she’d love to be his princess and make him happy. But she daren’t tell him the truth - that she’s run away from home and her guardian wants her back. She has to keep Monty at arm’s length until she comes of age, or she could lose him altogether.

Book 4 of the five-book Sons of the Marquess series, each a complete story with a HEA, but listen to all of them to find out all the secrets of the Marford family!

Delightful!

This is one of my favorite Mary Kingswood books. This audible version is delightful and the narrator is perfect.

As usual another Mary kingswood great book

This book was really interesting following along with the other 3 books. I really enjoyed the characters, the plot, the mystery, and the intensity of the book. It's so nice to have a clean book with so much activity going on that I don't have to skip over pages because of the sex scenes. Mary kingswood is a great writer and I hope she will continue with a 6 book showing showing the Marquess' situational marriage.

Least favorite so far...

I’ve been binging Mary Kingswood for several weeks now. Monty just didn’t catch my interest. He is so sanctimonious and falsely pious it grated on me. He finds his soul in the end, I’m happy to say, and proved himself. Melissa’s behavior is so poor throughout the story, I had a very hard time feeling any sympathy for either of them, especially considering the outcome, though I won’t spoil it for you. Melissa’s story falls into genre cliche and bored me to death. Connie is the true hero here, and you should read it for her sake. I’m still hooked on Mary Kingswood and look forward to Gil’s story.

Good enough but not my favorite.

The heroine seems a little tedious and the author is wringing the same emotions out of her over and over so that her character is not developing quickly enough. I'm not drawn to her harsh and mean side, despite her internal excuses. And Monty's preaching and stifling principles aren't near as fun as the other brother's characters.
