About this listen
Lizzie Fox is the story about a courageous and determined young woman, who grew up in foster care. She has suffered terrible injustice in her life and so hates it when she encounters it. In the small South Texas town of Seclusion, that injustice takes the form of racial and economic injustice violently controlled and policed by the county’s rich and powerful, including the local sheriff, the wealthy oil barons and the hierarchy within the church. To make ends meet, Lizzie takes a job at a weekly newspaper.
Following the mysterious and unsolved death of a young Black girl named Pearl, she sets out on a quest to unravel the cover up which gives her an outlet for her anger and a friend and mentor in the newspaper’s owner, Bud Harkins. This brings her into a friendship with Preston Lott, a gifted football player and cousin of Pearl. Their later romance tests the boundaries of interracial relationships in 1960. Her search for justice eventually takes her into the bowels of Nuevo Laredo’s infamous “Boys Town,” where she barely escapes with her life and the sordid truth that Seclusion has kept hidden for years.

Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

A Heroine Named Lizzie Fox!
It is the story of Lizzie Fox, brave and determined, she faces many obstacles to find the truth, I also highlight the detail of the author that made me keep in suspense throughout the novel and I would love to hear what is coming in a new novel.

The truth of the story.
This story brought out the dark times of the past, but showed the perseverance of what it took to overcome and do what was right. Great job!!! Can’t wait for the next book that Mr. Murphy writes.

The Struggle of a Brave Woman!!
Mike Murphy narrates the life of Lizzie Fox, a feisty and very brave woman from a small town in Texas, Lizzie puts her life at risk to find out all about the death of a young black girl, far from being a story, this reminds me of today's world where racism is well marked, a very entertaining novel from the beginning. To the end.

A very entertaining and interesting novel
I loved this novel from beginning to end, it shows us a little bit of everything, machismo, corruption, betrayal and pain, and most importantly, the courage of a woman fighting for what she believes is right, a story that leaves you wanting a new novel to come soon.

In Time Everyone Pays!
This audiobook, by Mike Murphy, is a captivating and immersive journey deep into the heart of 1960s Seclusion, Texas, where we are introduced to Lizzie Fox, a strong and courageous woman who's had her share of pain, suffering and mistreatment, and who does not accept injustice and keeps fighting to find the truth and bring justice - stating: " Every wrong should have a price to pay!"
It also offers a gripping blend of historical details, emotional depth, and suspense, with a story full of dark secrets and the fight to expose corruption and this is a standout element that the author explores. In Seclusion, no one is untouched by the darkness creeping beneath the surface, and the storyline reveals just how deep that corruption runs across the border into Mexico involving political and religious figures.
What makes this story even more engrossing is the forbidden romance—an element that’s as thrilling as it is heartbreaking.
Narration, by Laura Horowitz, was good in general, with a clear tone and a good pace. My only critique is that, the narration was at times annoying when she changes to men voices - it would sound like all of those men characters are drunk or suffering to speak.
Highly recommended!
