Publisher's summary

A powerful and deeply personal memoir, Struemph draws on her own stories of overcoming life’s small obstacles to developing the tenacity and resiliency to conquer much larger ones. With a keen eye, Struemph untangles how the subtle nuances of common behaviors and actions can set us up to become a predator’s target. She knows first-hand the overwhelming effects of sexual trauma and the unique obstacles that exist within the military as one tries to seek justice, support, and a way forward. Determined to find her own path to healing, Struemph now wants to share her journey with others. This book is a tool to help victims of sexual trauma find their own path to healing; understand and combat harmful behaviors; and to understand how our culture sets females up as targets for sexual predators, a reality magnified within our Armed Forces. This book will also help educate people about the lasting and profound damage trauma victims experience, and what needs to change to make the military a safer and more inclusive place for women to serve. We can shine a light on this pervasive and insidious evil, and collectively we can heal, make a difference, and be a part of creating more inclusive organizations for future generations.

This is such an important story!

This is an amazing book. It takes a much needed look at the dirty secret the US Military keeps-Military Sexual Trauma (MST). It is mind blowing MST still continues to go unchecked. I often hear people say this is a "female issue" but as the author points out, it is a male issue as well. It's high time the men in the military step up to the plate and begin to call out the predators within their ranks. The writer bravely tells a horrifying true story about the impact sexual assault has on a persons life and their soul. If you have a son, or you are a male, do yourself a favor and read this book. The writer does an excellent job of balancing the identification of the issue with being solution focused. it is a must read for anyone dealing with trauma. The writer
embodies the message of hope and honors the power of resilience. The book allows the reader an inside look at how treacherous but rewarding the journey of healing is. The book is a worthy investement of time and funds! Quite frankly it should be a mandated reading for all leaders in the Military.
