Publisher's summary

In New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Kristen Proby's brand-new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors - and into her heart.

Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim one-fifth of the credit. She's determined to make it a success and can't think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she's in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him - his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school - and he's all bad boy...exactly her type and exactly what she doesn't need.

Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what's always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed.

Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake's past finally catches up with him. Will Addie be torn apart once again, or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?

Any additional comments?

Listen To Me is a book about friendship, forgiveness, love, and second chances.

This is the story of Addie and Jake. Addie had a taste for rock stars, and sadly that had created some baggage in her love life. After so many break ups and deceptions, she is now very guarded about who she dates. But, in the end, she always ends up falling for musicians —her weakness. And THANK GOD FOR THAT, because that’s how she met Jake—retired rock legend now music producer. After five years away from the stage Jake has decided to sing in front of an audience without all the messy lifestyle of a rockstar. And that happened in Addie’s restaurant where he’d be singing and playing his guitar on the weekends just for the love of music. Before it's all over, he’ll feel more than just the thrill of being on stage. He will also find the love of his life. And together they’ll find a way to overpass their insecurities and finally have what they deserve in one another.

This is the sweetest book I’ve ever read! Oh. My. God. I think I might need an appointment with the dentist after all this sweetness!! Addie and Jake’s story was sweet, sexy, funny and also sad. I laughed out loud with their crazy conversations, they were fun and sweet. Jake was confident in the best possible way. I loved how he joked about Addie being so into him, and how it all turned out to be truth. I also cried my eyes out with their insecurities. I felt their anguish in my heart, it was aching so damn much. And then I was falling in love with all the characters in this book, Addie’s and Jake’s friends were just perfect. That is how a friendship should be. They are supportive, and not afraid to tell their friends the good or the bad when it’s necessary. And of course, I will always enjoy a great #Bromance. Jake and Max’s friendship was awesome. I loved how they were with each other. I LOVED IT!!

Everyone knows I’m a sucker for audiobooks, and the moment I knew Sebastian York was narrating Listen To Me, I had to get it. I mean, it’s Sebastian York...THE AUDIOBOOK GOD! There are very few times that he disappoints me. Thank God this isn’t one of them. Sebastian York and Arielle DeLisle did a stellar performance with this audio. Their voices fit Addie and Jake’s personalities perfectly and the different inflexions they did for the secondary characters were all awesome. I recommend reading this book with the audiobook companion.

I enjoyed every minute and every word of this story, thanks to the amazing writing style of Kristen Proby and the outstanding performance of Sebastian York and Arielle DeLisle. I can’t wait to read the next book of the series, Close to You, I already love Cami and Landon, so I’m sure I’ll love their story too.

Addy and Jake were entertaining

This audiobook was well narrated and engaging. I listened to it fairly quickly as the story was smooth and flowed really well.

Addison Wade and four other friends owned a restaurant called Seduction together. In order to add more flavor to their establishment, they decided to hire a singer to perform there. During auditions, Jake Keller, former lead singer of a defunct boy band, performed a song and made an impression. He was eventually hired to play at Seduction.

Jake made his interest in Addison known fairly quickly, but Addison who had a pennant for bad boy rockers tried her best to resist him. Eventually, Jake wore her down and they began dating.

The story was told using a Dual Point of View with two narrators so we could spend equal time in Jake and Addy’s head. They were both working out past issues that were added weight to their new blossoming relationship. Addison used to be a model but was now considered too curvy. Jake had overcome addiction and now worked hard to remain sober and present in his new reality. They were both really likable characters and their respective friends added a nice supporting cast to this love story. I can’t say the story was dissimilar to books in this genre but it was entertaining nonetheless. I couldn’t put it down because I really connected with Addison and loved Jake as a hero too. They were flawed characters but they were so relatable and delightful. Addison felt like a person everyone knows and cares about. You can only hope they would find their Jake someday. It hit all the right chords within me. I had a great time reading this book.

It was pretty low on angst but there was still an emotional pull towards the main characters. I had read this author once before and it was just an okay experience. But this story was more developed and the characters had more depth. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to book 2.

What did you love best about Listen to Me?

The story was one I was excited to keep listening to....

What did you like best about this story?

Loved all the details of the restaurant and the characters to really be able to picture it and feel it.

Which character – as performed by Sebastian York and Arielle DeLisle – was your favorite?

I Love Sebastian York as a narrator!! Arielle DeLisle was my only disappointment...her voice was annoying and drew me away from the story. Wish it was Andi Arnt instead

Jake and Addie

A fun, feisty, sinfully sensual and heartfelt journey to go on with Jake and Addison. Their chemistry was palpable, their banter was absolutely charming but their connection was perfection. I adored this story. Narration is great!
