Acerca de esta escucha

As the world enters a new century, three teenagers forge a future for themselves on the wild Texas grasslands: Gideon Fry, torn between going his way and following his father's footsteps; Johnny McCloud, whose restless spirit finds its solace traversing an open range; and Molly Taylor, the woman they both love. Rugged, bold and volatile, the three of them come of age in this tender and intimate novel of the heart.©1991 Larry McMurtry (P)1993 Recorded Books Ficción Ficción Literaria Género Ficción Westerns Sincero Texas Adulto joven

I really liked this book. It really reminded me of my father and made me not want to waste any time on people who don't really care about you.

It's been too long in reading the cowboy stories and no one does it better....I laughed and cried and am the better for reading.

Great story but it took some time to get into it. Get’s much better in Nook 2. Worth the wait.

I thought this would be a rowdy Western story. I was driving from Northern Montana to Rifle Colorado and wanted a rowdy Western to listen to. It wasn’t! I loved it anyway! Great story! Great writer!

Not at all what I was looking for!

From youth to middle to old age. Funny, sweet and sad. Just like life itself, the story had to end.

Deeply touching story

I too was looking for a comfortable book and this hit the spot. McMurtry's characters are so well developed, I felt bereft when the book ended - as if I had known them for years. The story is very simple but not without its own wisdom. Loved it.

Excellent, simple story

And he seems to do so, making note of the most insignificant little nuances that are at once mundane, and yet essential for the typically bleak portrait, he is painting. I did not want to give this book a five star rating simply because I did not see the protagonists as admirable people… Too wrapped up in self without the necessary and proper reflection on "right behavior" you see, I am someone with deep, Texas roots myself and In my upbringing "right behavior" is one word, and certainly a moral code. But as I finished "Leaving Cheyenne" i loved the characters nonetheless, and genius must be rewarded. Larry McMurtry is a genius. Coupled with terrific narration, this is a classic. Put it on the shelf right next to Lonesome, Dove and "The Last Picture Show"

No one can capture a scene like LM...
