Acerca de esta escucha

John Carter is back for another adventure in this classic interplanetary tale of Barsoom from Edgar Rice Burroughs. In an attempt to put an end to a wave of murders carried out by the notorious Assassins Guild, John goes to the Martian city of Zodanga.

When he arrives however, he discovers much more than he ever could have imagined. With a mechanical brain created from the twisted experiments of a madman, the discovery of jewel-encrusted towers, and human-eating, two-mouthed cat people, John Carter fights his way across planets to stop the evil guild and save the woman he loves.

Perhaps one of the best of Burrough's Martian stories, but odd voicing choices made this a very difficult listen. Characters spoke in effete tones, deep southern or California valley girl accents, and were jarringly out of place in this story, and greatly detracted from my enjoyment. This isn't to say the performance was bad, as it would fit in other genres, only that the characterizations felt distractingly inappropriate for this work.

My favorite Barsoom story, marred by a strange performance
