Nice but incomplete collection

This is a nice collection of 7 out of the 11 Barsoom novels. Okay, more like 6 1/3 books. The last being a portion/novella of Llana Of Gathol. The initial books, through Mastermind Of Mars are all present. The Yellow Men Of Mars is the novella I mentioned and, strangely, is not the next written. But still, the collection is nice for what it is and should be required reading/listening for any science fiction or adventure fan. Things simply don't get much more swashbuckling than these novel of Barsoom.

Highly recommended.

I came because of Heinlein, I stayed because of Burroughs

If it wasn’t for Heinlein loving on Barsoom, I would never have listened to these books (I watched the movie... nuff said?). Now, I can dig why Heinlein was so into the series. Super solid throughout and only uber hokey if you hold several decades of new sci-fi against it.

A Nice Collection and Performance

This brings me back to childhood. It is a good time to listen to the books that started my reading habit. The voice talent takes a while to get used to. He isn’t what I expect for these stories, but he puts in a professional performance and so I warmed to him eventually. Burroughs is strong in world building and providing action and romance.

My favorite ERB story series in one complete audio

Great story series from an old master science fiction writer. Burroughs was one of my favorite writers as a child and an adult too. Chivalry exists on Mars (or rather Barsoom) and only the Virginian known as John Carter knows how to balance it with action. I have listened to the first 3 books, sold separately and individually performed horribly by 3 different readers. When I found this one audiobook that had all 7 novels in it I just had to obtain a copy. The first 6 books were the typical Burroughs story and I have to say that I was very disappointed with the 7th book, The Yellow Men of Mars, which seemed rushed and filled with gaps that is totally unlike a typical Burroughs novel. I had never heard of it and it was not his best work. The reader of the books actually improved as he kept reading the different chapters and by the time you reach the third book he actually made the story rather interesting. This collection is well worth getting if you are a Burroughs fan and especially if you want all the stories of Barsoom which are not readily available elsewhere.

Good Except for the Last

it's an excellent series that up until the very end the yellow men of Mars seems very rushed in comparison to all the others is so short that it seems like it shouldn't actually be one of the stories.

If you liked the movie you'll like this book series. The book is a little different than the movie. The narrator did a pretty good job in my opinion.

Loved It

I have Loved John Carter adventures for years. This is a well read set.

love the story. did not care for the narrator.
tone and inflection does not pair well with story.

Action, adventure, vicious fighting, and of course romance.

A great listen. Much better than the Disney movie adaptation, which was just tolerably entertaining.

loved it, a woman should have read the woman's part. enjoyed the stories of john carter and family, kinda got lot of the other guy's story
