About this listen

College junior Lucy Washington abides by one rule: avoid risk at all costs. She's cautious in every aspect of her life, from her health to her mock trial team to the boring guys she dates. When a brash, gorgeous jock walks into the campus coffeeshop and turns his flirt on, Lucy is stunned by the force of attraction. For the first time ever, she's willing to step out of her comfort zone, but can she really trust the guy who's determined to sweep her off her feet?

Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew "Matty" Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. And it's his for the taking, if he can convince his quarterback, Ace Anderson, to give up the starting position. Luckily Matty already has an edge - the hottie he's lusting over just happens to be Ace's childhood best friend.

Getting Lucy on his side and in his bed? Hell yeah. Matty is more than confident that he can have both, but when he falls hard for Lucy, it's time for a new game plan: convince the woman of his dreams that she's not sleeping with the enemy.

Contains mature themes.

My Review:
Overall: 4.0
Performance: 4.25
Story: 4.0

This was a really fun read. While it wasn't quite as engaging as the first book in the series, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Matty is the unapologetic manwhore. He's offered a lot by being part of the football team and he's taken advantage of that over the years. But lately, he's been calming down a bit. Then his coach comes to him with a deal. The coach wants Ace, the quarterback, out of his job so he can hand that over to an incoming recruit. He offers Matty the Captaincy for the team if he smooths this transition over for the team and for Ace. Yeah, the coach is totally making Matty the bad guy here.

Matty hates the idea of this job, but what he doesn't realize is that Ace's best friend is Lucy, the girl he's suddenly interested in. It will be hard to impress the girl he likes if he makes her best friend his worst enemy.

There's a really interesting dynamic to this story and I found myself even more caught up with what was happening with all the side-characters...Ace, Hammer.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I'm just really bummed that the next two books aren't available in audio. But that's okay, I've already bought the ebooks, so I will find time to read them soon.

Ok I have the same hang up as I did in book 1… Only switched we got a lot of Matty and what he wants and what his past was like. And that’s great but what about Lucy.

What do we really know? Not a whole lot and that makes me sad because I want to know about her too.

Together they make sense. A lot of dramalama and sometimes I like it but sometime I don’t and this one for me I was on the fence. I think Lucy over reacts to much over the small things and it just causes communication issues that never had to happen.

Ace is great at the beginning of the book but why can’t a guy and girl be just friends… No we have to have drama.. and then jealousy… YUCK I was hoping this was going to be better than that.

It’s still a good read and it had my interested all the way through.

Narration was ok I liked both, ok I like the male parts the best. :p

Liked it!

4/5 rating: An enjoyable listen. Some negative points, but nothing significant.

I recommend this book for... fans of young adult / college stories; football player stories, etc.

On the plus side... I really connected with the characters. The behind-the-scenes of the US college football culture was interesting. Hot sexy times. Great narration.

On the negative side... it dragged in places; the plot wasn't enough to bring me back for a repeat.
