About this listen

In 1066, the Normans brutally defeated the Saxons and William the Conqueror was crowned the King of England.

Even though their country now belonged to William, the Saxons continued to rebel against his rule. But they were no match for the seasoned Norman knights who ruthlessly put down the rebellions.

Against his wishes, Calder Wyndym, one of the king’s most valued knights, becomes Overlord of a small village in the North. He is tasked to build a castle to protect the King’s lands and to find a way for everyone under his protection to learn to live together peacefully.

Calder endeavors to follow his King’s decree, but in the process of doing so, he gives his heart to a lovely, young Saxon woman. Their relationship causes an even deeper rift between the Normans and Saxons.

Will the strength of their love be able to overcome the hatred and prejudice? Or will the deceit, disrespect and betrayals from both sides tear the lovers apart?

Interesting

This was my first Debbie Boek's book. This is the first book in the Knights Are Forever Series, a Medieval Romance. Calder and Regan's story is intriguing. The characters are well developed, and interesting. The storyline is original, but unfortunately, the story, and the narration didn't keep my attention. Millie Jones is a new narrator to me. She did a good job with the narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I was very disappointed

While walking home from picking her wedding day flowers she sees some homes in her village are on fire and men and women are fighting the norm of the soldiers. When she tries to run down to render assistance she tripped and is knocked out by a rock and this is where the night colder find her and bring him to his cottage to make certain she is OK. This is also where he falls in love with the xx weather on our wedding day and then send her home to get married. There’s a lot more to the story and I listen to it, but once they had sex moments after meeting and at the hurricane in consciousness I was out. I just was over it and had no love for the book when in the beginning I loved it very much I love medieval stories of romance or just historical stories, but because I wouldn’t have sex with somebody moments after meeting him I just can’t see how you can do that and fall in love having said that, you may not mind that at all and if you don’t then the story line is really good I just would’ve been would have enjoyed it better I had the passion and love build up and not give in to base emotions that even animals possess. I wanted the love for each other to build and it didn’t it was instant attraction and Wham! Bam thank you ma’am. Not my style at all!
