Truly enjoyed book 1 in this series kind of read it out of order But it was exceptional either way and the narration was on point, Justine always does a phenomenal job...

Great story

Just Ok,but the narrator made it so i listened till the end . At times I didn’t care for the way Jenny interacted with Toran . I know that the author was aiming to express how Torran stood behind his female leader in a time where this wasn’t the norm , but it bothered me when Jenny seemed to care more about her cause than Torrans injuries

My favorite narrator!

I love the narrator and she does believable voices for both males and females. This story has a great plot the has many different twists and turns that made me want to keep reading! I look forward to reading more by this author.

Narration and Storyline tell a great story

English soldiers truly were thieves, rapists & murders with no honor. Barbaric. The rest of the storyline is not all, but mostly fiction. Yet a good story. I like strong women. Especially in that time. Great narration.

English soldiers were the devil incarnate

I liked the whole account of the prowess of the lady although it is an imagined theme.I would have liked a more comprehensive ending with Hamish and I expected a confrontation with Boyd. The first few chapters alluded to a preoccupation that Boyd had towards Jenny and it seems a bit of a loose end letting him go scotfree of all the atrocities.Taurin should have saved Jenny from Boyd's hand at some skirmish. But overall i really enjoyed the tale.We in South Africa really appreciate the Scotts individualistic unpretencious character so similar to our own.

The Glorious cry of battle and love.

1 I love anything that Justine Eyre reads, to me her voice makes it..I've read all, but out of order, I'm so glad I finally got to read the 1st one

I loved it

Wonderful love story with a powerfully strong woman. The man by her side had a very strong character as well and maintained fierce masculinity while letting her remain in charge. Justine Eyre never disappoints as a narrator!

Can’t wait for the next in the series

The book was ok but the plot not my cup of tea. There is very little humor relief. it is a heavy sad subject. While it is interesting to think how women played a role in the resistance the historical reality is that the Jacobites met a devastating slaughter in the end. For me it's hard to become invested in the characters knowing that the happiness they more than likely was short lived. For that reason I could only give the story 3 stars.

Good
