Mostly Just Basics, A Good Overview

This was a short and easy listen that takes less than an hour. While there wasn't anything groundbreaking, it was definitely a decent overview of how body language can be perceived by others. Since I do a lot of public speaking, and have been in a dozen different instructor training courses, it was mostly a review for me. However, I can see this being a great resource for some people that I know personally who don't always understand the message that they are radiating with their bodies. If you have problems with interpersonal relationships, do a lot of public speaking or instructing, or if you're in a position of leadership, then this is something you should definitely consider listening to. It's short enough that you could listen to it in the car or while getting ready in the morning.
Narration was pretty good as well.

*I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

A place to start...

This audiobook provides a basic introduction to body language terminology, but is certainly not what I would call "advanced". Having been through several interview and interrogation courses and utilized these techniques in the field I would have to say that this listen will give you just a basic understanding of the concept. If you are looking for an introduction to this topic then this audiobook is a good place to start and on that basis I would certainly recommend it. But if you are looking for something a bit more practical listen to The Power of Body Language: An Ex-FBI Agent's System for Speed-Reading People by Joe Navarro.

Dry subject

What was most disappointing about Scott Colter’s story?

I was more curious based on the title and could not withhold my disappointment of the contents mentioned. they were in brief and expected more details and elaboration with some sample case studies or some story lines relevant that can connect the audience like me

Body Language & Non-Verbal Communication Skills

I really liked listening to HOW TO ANALYZE PEOPLE AT FIRST SIGHT. This was part two of the book titled "Psychology" also written by SCOTT COLTER. In this audiobook, the topic is about kinesics which is body motion or non-verbal behavior interpretation. I found it to be extremely interesting and important due to the fact that I believe our body language makes up the larger part of our "in person" communication.

This book goes over types called illustrators and regulators as well as many subcategories such as oculesics, proxemics, and haptics. Also a newer study called bipedics involving leg movements. This was a great overview of ways of identifying and studying these actions during communication. I think there are many people that would benefit from this book. This was an eye opener.

KEVIN F. SPALDING did a great job narrating this book. He spoke clearly and made it easy to follow and understand. I enjoyed listening to him. He's an excellent voice actor.

Analyze Body Language

If you want to develop self-awareness, improve first impressions, and increase your understanding of people, this is a great primer.

You'll learn to recognize emblems, illustrators, affect displays, regulators, and adapters, and increase awareness of cultural differences in certain nonverbal cues.

Intro to Body Language

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This audiobook, while interesting, only provides the listener with a general overview of the mechanics of body language. If you're looking for a rough guide to understanding body language, this audiobook will serve that purpose. But if you are looking to size people up or read their minds-this audiobook's not for you!

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
