Basic Storylines, Awful Narration

I question if the books weren't AI generated. The were repetitions of phrases, basic story lines just rewritten with new characters and slight changes and lacked much of elements employed by best-selling mystery writers. If you like the light mindless mysteries that lack substance, these are for you. No judgement, just I prefer a more well rounded plot. Each book assumes you've never read the others in the series, constantly recounting details previously written. It's good if you are picking one starting anywhere in the series, but redundant in this completed series.

I am so not a fan of virtual voice, but due to the inexpensive price bought the audio book anyways hoping it wouldn't be awful. Unfortunately, the typical issues with VV plus more were evident. When words were missing, mispronounced, or wrong variations sometimes it was due to poor writing and editing, poor choice of pronouncation/word choice by AI, especially words spelled the same but have different means depending on how it is said, but also I noticed AI often would drop letters. Leads, which often occurs in mystery books, was switched back and forth between leads as in clues and leads as in the metals but frequently the plural was dropped to singular despite it being written correctly in the book. I literally would pause the audio and got the the ebook to see what exactly was written.

It reminds me of the internet soap operas

I did not enjoy the story line. It may get better after a while. It just wasn't for me.

Great Read

Hope Hadley Eleven Book Cozy Mystery Set was a great read by Meredith Potts. This set consists of ; Fishing for Murder, Murder of a Yoga Instructor, Drowning in Deceit, A Not So Merry Christmas Murder, Killer Injustice, Murder of a Restaurant Critic, Murder of a Movie Producer, The Killer Holiday Office Party, Murder Hits Close to Home, Hurricanes Can Be Murder, and Murder is a Deadly Brew. I can’t wait to read more by Meredith Potts.

Underwhelmed

Virtual voice narration is awful. There is a lack of emphasis on important phrases, a mixup of homonyms and missing articles (i.e. “the” or “a”). The plot of the stories were repetitive and too basic. A little research into basic police procedures should have been conducted. Finally the characters were woefully underdeveloped - including the main character.

AI narration detracts

This sounds like a cute story but the AI narration makes it too hard to follow. The voice does not differ between characters so dialog is often confusing. In addition the inflection is wrong for the context. characters sound questioning when the text says the are angry for example. I couldn’t finish the first book.
