About this listen

Welcome to Hell, little one.

Alaric

Monroe was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I should’ve killed her when I had the chance. But instead, to make her keep my secrets, I took her freedom and made her my captive. She swore she’d hate me forever, but that was before I stole her innocence, too. Now she knows how good my forbidden touch feels, and it won’t take long before she transforms into the broken toy I’ve always wanted. And after that, there will be no going back…

Monroe

The first time I met Alaric, he fired a bullet into an innocent man’s head. He’s a hitman. The worst scum on the planet. He kills for a living and wrecks lives for fun. Now he’s my jailor, the only one who holds the key to my gilded cage. He says he’ll never let me go. He says he’ll force me to keep his secrets. He says I’ll kneel for him. But even he knows I’ll never, ever love a monster. And Alaric’s the devil himself.

This is a full-length, standalone dark mafia romance set in the Black Hearts world.

Different but good

This story was recommended to me by a book blog, it’s refreshingly different from other mafia romances, this book needs an open mind going in. While most mafia romance books contain bdsm this book does not . His fetish is somnophelia which means he likes his girl to be passed out, Yes he asks for consent thank goodness . The plot was well developed and the heroine made reasonable choices and her inner dialogue was not annoying. If you’re not open to drug use, mafia violence, and somnophelia then this book is not for you. It really takes an open mind.

Raunchy

this was unexpected. It was pretty good. It was a bit raunchy and made me feel a little dirty. And not really in a good way. But I forged on and read it. The male narrator and his raspy voice made me nervous, but I enjoyed listening to him. The female narrator was good as well. hopefully, the next story will be as good if not better.

a first for me...

I finished it. TW's deal with a few "situations" I've never taken in as a reader or listener. Black Heart Romance Presents Heaven & Hell series written by multiple authors as definitely succeed in taking me out of my "dark" comfort zone. There are some very twisty dark writers in this group. I'll continue to calmly read on.

3 STARS

The heroine works at Purgatory and uses the money to help take care of her grandmother. Alaric sees her there and becomes OBSESSED with her. He breaks into her house does some questionable things while she is asleep and stalks her. He is the type of villain I love but everything was too insta for me. I wish it would have been a duet so we could see more of his crazy. He is definitely a bulldozer and forces her into a relationship. So if that isn’t your jam this book isn’t for you.

Someone’s been watching too much raunchy porn😏

I liked the interaction between the characters. I thought it was sweet the way this ruthless man took care of her so tenderly. Of course that was after he brutalized her..so there’s that. The writing was ok but some of the lines read like bad porn. The narration was decent.

The story was rather superficial and the sexy times were mostly just porn scenes in novel form. And bad porn at that. On the fence about his kink..consensual…questionable 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lastly, he called her sugar. My grannie called me sugar so that was kinda creepy for me.

Pretty Steamy

I liked the narrators. The guys voice kinda reminded me of the guy in the candyman movie back in the 90s. He really got into character. I like that. Sometimes narrators are monotone. I like it when they really play the character.

Dark and freaky

I listen to a lot of dark romance but this one had me cringing. I love the narrators and probably why I bought the book. But it had some elements I don’t even listen to willingly. If nothing bothers you, you may really enjoy this title. I love the narrators in the next books but I’m afraid it’s just going to be my limit to have gotten through this one.

Hitman - Monroe and Alaric

This book was really dark. Alaric meets Monroe at the club where she works. He could be rather creepy. She is paying for her grandmother, who is in a home so when he offers her a lot of money to be with him, she accepts—no penetration just a bj. He can’t stop thinking about her so he follows her in between him k!lling people for the mob. When she was visiting her grandmother, two men follow and drag her into an alley. Because Alaric is following her, he saves her from them and k!lls them. He then takes her to his home, and she is now his captive. He ends up taking her on one of his jobs (he is afraid she will escape and she has a fear of small spaces so she can’t stay in the trunk). She watches as he removes his targets hands. He has a kink where he likes to have s&x while his partner is unconscious. He also drugs her. When he does it to Monroe and she awakes, she doesn’t seem as upset as a normal person would be. Throughout the book, he kept threatening to k!ll her, but it was obvious he felt strongly about her and wouldn’t do that. The book was pretty good just extremely dark. Heather Firth and Jack Calihan did a great job with the narration.

Hitman

The woman was really weak in the story. I think she should of been stronger.
