About this listen

It all comes down to this: kill or be corpsed.

Clyde Hatchett has known he's had a corpse-king inside him, slowly trying to take over his body and raise an army of undead for a while now. And while that may seem like a rather, um, urgent matter to attend to, it's only now, after being forced out of Glaton by his best friends and then having to rescue someone's sister from a bad marriage, that he's actually in a place to deal with it.

And he better deal with it quickly, since his entire left hand is starting to look like it belongs to the Crypt-Keeper.

But Gloomguard, where the mage Clyde needs lives, operates on a completely different plane than anywhere else in Vuldranni. Everyone is out for themselves, and there's no such thing as doing a favor. So in order to even talk to the mage, Clyde must embark on a series of preposterous quests he doesn't have time for and isn't guaranteed to survive.

Can we please get an audiobook in the Good Guys/Bad Guys series that is over 10 hrs? 10 hrs seems to be the point in which the story doesn't feel forced to end with out some random cliff hanger. I know there has to be some cross over between Hatchet and Montana, but maybe recap of where each other are at the beginning or end of their opposing books would not make me want to actually use my eyes to read what books are already published w/out an audiobook version.

All that being said this is one of my favorite ongoing series of not top 5 of all time and this chapter didn't disappoint me one bit. It is a bit of a " clear the curse" book a lot of series are using these days to slow the OP MCs these isekai books use (i.e. Titan series ~ Guardian) but I'm hopeful that it's behind Hatchet at some point.

have a listen...well worth the $ or credit.

Another great instalment, but...

Great Series

Good stuff as always, but story progression seems to have slowed. Feels a little like milking the series.

Clyde Hatchett finally reaches Gloomguard in the quest for the mage that might be able to rip the corpse king out of him and keep him from being possessed by a being who just might have the power to take over the world. Unfortunately, seeing this wizard is not as simple as asking for his address. In Gloomguard, everyone wants him to prove himself through a series of quests in the extremely dangerous territory outside the fortified settlement.

Ugland continues to write a very exciting adventure series in which Hatchett must continue to use his brains to survive crises well above his level to vanquish. There are a few highly interesting characters introduced in this novel, as well as the continuing cast, but none quite so interesting as the mage that Hatchett is looking for and the man responsible for the highly dangerous environment of Gloomguard.

This is a great one.

Great series. Great cliff hanger ending. Some sadness in the middle, but realistic. I cannot wait for the next book.

Still awesome

So Ugland has pushed away from developing a story that all the books are working towards into a more episodic D&D like adventure where every book isn't really contributing to a centralized story. Still a fun read though.

Still a fun if not sprawling story
