A billion-dollar fashion empire, and it's about to be mine.
I've worked a decade for this. I've sold my soul and my reputation. I've lived a lie, smiled for the cameras, and hated myself, all for this fortune.
And then she pops up. A mysterious heir with a rap sheet, combat boots, and a mouth that I want to pin shut with my -
It doesn’t matter.
I've played this game for a decade. I can continue the charade a little longer, keep my hands to myself and her body out of my mind.
I can keep my secret until the ink dries and everything is mine.
Or not.

Hidden Seams is not one of my favorites by Alessandra Torre but it was a good read nonetheless, for me it felt as if it was lacking somehow. Don't get me wrong there was a good story line but I guess I just didn't connect with the characters. Avery helps immigrant women but not in most the charitable way because she is most definitely skirting the law, and Marco....well lets just say he has a secret and he is set on protecting the legacy of his mentor, Vince Horace.
I felt at times that Marco needed a good smack in the back of his head, I hated the way he continually said that he was going to stay away from Avery because of his secret and then yet again was with her, lying to her over and over again while sleeping with her. I guess you could say Avery was as well because she was keeping her own secrets but when she admitted to believing that Vince could possibly be her father I think Marco should have done a few things differently. And he didn't which made me mad. he was keeping a secret for the sole purpose of keeping his pockets filled. Honestly with the amount of money left to him he could have given Avery half of it and still lead a very pampered life.
There were plenty of sexy times between Avery and Marco but again I didn't feel the connection or chemistry. Sorry. I love Alessandra Torre's books and I think this is the first one that left me feeling flat. I would still recommend this book to readers that enjoy Contemporary Romance especially fans of Alessandra's because as I stated at the start this had a good story line, I just couldn't connect. Happy Reading!!!
Things aren't as they seem behind the Hidden Seams

Both main characters are complex and unique and there is some comic relief to relieve the tension of some serious events taking place in their lives.
A happy and satisfactory ending guaranteed.

Avery McKenna is 31. She launders money, helps immigrant women, and is a runaway from the system, still looking for her birth father. All she has is an old photo.
Fashion mogul Vince Horace is dead. His boyfriend of 10 years, Marco Lent, is about to inherit millions and the business.
In this world, the designers are the gods and lives are choreographed, backs stabbed, promises and threats made, all to try to climb onto one of those almighty thrones. I’m the worst of the bunch and know the sacrifices more than anyone. The last ten years of my life has been orchestrated, a web of deceit and lies, all for one of those thrones.
With the death of Vince, his photos are all over the news, and the photo looks eerily like the one of Avery’s dad. But Vince was gay, right? Avery needs to know, so she heads to New York to find out if he could have been her dad, and Marco literally runs into her.
Of course, the last thing he wants is an heir to Vince’s will popping up. He just spent 10 years living a lie. She just can’t waltz in and take it. She should be the enemy. But he can’t keep his eyes and hands off her.
"There is no way, according to everything I’ve read about Marco Lent, that he is anything other than 100% gay.
And there is no way, according to everything I’ve felt in this car, that he isn’t planning on ripping off my clothes with his teeth once we arrive at his home."
The forbidden romance was completely unique and had a ton of twists and turns I could never have predicted, but I never felt a strong connection between the two. It felt like he just slept with the first hot girl he could, and as for her, he is just physically perfect.
"There are no words for a man like him, no explanation for how perfectly he is created, the lines of his body, the cut of his jaw, the thick line of his lashes, the rough pout of his lips."
But make no mistake, the physical attraction is there!
"F***, I love her kiss. It’s wild and untamed, unapologetic as it captures my tongue, samples what I have, and gives it all back. Have I ever been kissed like this? Have I ever met a mouth so addictive?
Likes:
•Completely unique plot.
•Totally unpredictable.
•Dual POV
•Very sexy!
•There were funny parts and lots of banter I loved.
•Avery was strong and tough and went after what she wanted.
Dislikes:
•Marco seemed to be more about sex than anything.
•I wish we had more from the fashion world.
•I didn’t see their love form, I just didn’t feel the connection.
•It ramped up too slow and petered out a little at the end.
The Narration:
I love a good duet! I didn’t even notice it was duet narration until midway which is perfect, sometimes duet can be jarring. The couple does not meet for a long time so we hear them both on their own first. I hadn’t heard either narrator before and I hope to hear more from them both. I think the narration helped make it even better.
The Down & Dirty:
Hidden Seams was one of the more unique books I have read and I completely enjoyed that aspect of it. The story kept me involved and engaged from the very beginning, and the twists and turns were all surprises. The fantastic narration made the audiobook even better. The story was very hot, but I never felt a true love develop between the main characters, and maybe I, myself, felt a bit of a disconnect that I can’t put my finger on. It was still a very enjoyable read, it just didn’t make me want to shout from the rooftops about it.
Rating 4 Stars, 4.5 Heat, 5 Narration

I enjoyed Avery and Marco's interaction, but mostly their banter. So, that's after 1/3 of the story when everything starts getting better and they finally met.
This story is unlike any other by this author, but at the end of the day I also learn a valuable lesson from the lifes this characters have been living, regardless of their selfless or shelfish intentions behind it all. You don't have to like what people do but must accept people as they are, flaws and all, while helping them or helping each other to become a better version of themselves.
Dexter Collins and Elizabeth Powers nailed it with their excellent performance by evoking all the all the feels the author had intended and making this book a sheer pleasure to listen to!!
