During the brutal winter of 1775-1776, an untested Boston bookseller named Henry Knox commandeered an oxen train hauling 60 tons of cannons and other artillery from Fort Ticonderoga near the Canadian border. He and his men journeyed some 300 miles south and east over frozen, often treacherous terrain to supply George Washington for his attack of British troops occupying Boston. The result was the British surrender of Boston and the first major victory for the Colonial Army. An act of near desperation fueled by courage, daring, and sheer tenacity led to a tremendous victory for the cause of independence.

Detail and emotion. Henry became a friend to me in this book. Now I now why the country has Knox counties, cities, village and even college in the USA. Henry was a Honorable Patriot and Role Mole.

Accurate, riveting and yet another amazing story from the Revolution. I’ve read countless books on Knox, this one is near the top.

Very interesting what things were like during the a revolution. Moving cannons was no small job.

Best book for this amazing story. So many details, and the story really comes to life.

Good story but a little tedious

Every student of American history ought to know this story. I very much liked listening but more than of few of you will find it slow moving.
