About this listen

Miriam couldn't believe she was finally married. It was like an Amish dream come true. But all Miriam had to do was look at her sister to see that desire didn't always last forever. So with her parents 40th wedding anniversary on the horizon, she sets out to discover how to keep a marriage sizzling.

In any long term marriage though, there are regrets. For the Kaufman's, it was the departure of their first daughter from Lancaster County. But as their daughter returns unexpectedly after a decade away, it's clear the Kaufman's will be in for an anniversary party like no other.

This quick listen is packed full of Kaufman goodness. Miriam has gotten married, but as she looks around, she realizes passion doesn't last forever. She turns to her parents to see what keeps the spark alive. With their 40th wedding anniversary coming quickly, the party planning has begun. Will Abby come home to celebrate? And will she be welcomed with open arms? Lessons of love, family, and forgiveness are all invited. We just have to listen to see which will come! Children Bring Lasting Love

Miriam with happiness and love, will it last, and what to do to make it last. With parents anniversary coming, and seeing the joy of a child returning home. It was through the love and blessing of children that a love will be shared and last thru the years.
The narration was good. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Heavenly Desire

I'm really glad both sisters were brave enough to step outside the accepted norm and work to reunite. I can't understand how any family can just write a member out, and decide they don't exist for all intents and purposes. Kudos to these girls for doing the right thing.

Heavenly Desire

A short sweet story that gives a glimpse into the life of an Amish family.

It’s been 10 years since Abigail left Lancaster to follow her heart. It’s her parents 40th wedding anniversary and there is a celebration planned. Will it finally be time for the family to reconcile and find peace?

While this was a super short story, by Becca Fisher, I really enjoyed it.

Stephanie Richardson did a lovely job with the narration. A great performance.

Kaufman family seeks happiness

The Kaufmans' three daughters are all married now, the youngest, Miriam, most recently. Miriam is thinking about how to keep romance alive in her marriage for the long term, inspired in part by her parents' approaching 40th wedding anniversary.

The elder Kaufmans are still in love, but there's a cloud on their happiness, and has been for a decade--since their oldest daughter, Abigail, left Lancaster for Philadelphia, and married an outsider. Samuel was appalled, and raged at both her departure from Amish life, and her rejection of his plan for her: marrying the fine young man he'd chosen for her, and inheriting the family's quilt shop. Though she's had some contact with her sisters, Abigail hasn't been back to visit since her break with her father.
Miriam decides it's time to fix that, and invites Abigail and her husband to the party she's planning for her parents.

We get glimpses of the lives of the elder Kaufmans, Abigail and her husband, Miriam and hers, and the middle daughter, Allison, and her husband and two little girls. Allison's girls have a raging sibling rivalry just as Abigail and Allison did, and she's worried about losing one of her daughters to a break in the family like the one that cost her a close relationship with Abigail.

The Kaufmans don't know Abigail is coming. Abigail doesn't know her parents don't know she's been invited.

The question is, can Miriam's plan to heal the family work?

It's another sweet and loving tale. Recommended.

Samuel & Emma's 40th Anniversary

It's been a decade since Abigail left the community and married Isaac. We see a peek into each of the 3 daughter's lives as they gather to celebrate. But what of the rift between Abigail and Samuel? What is right? I am loving this series of novellas. They could be read as stand-alone, but are much better as a series. When you know the characters from the other stories, it becomes so much richer! I was given this audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion and here it is: I highly recommend this engaging series! The narrator does a wonderful job. She changes her voice and does an Amish accent.
