Acerca de esta escucha

After walking into a trap on a covert op in Russia, the men from top secret SEAL Team Nine are presumed dead. Not knowing whom they can trust, and with war hanging in the balance, the survivors must go dark and scatter around the globe.

Marine ecologist Annie Henderson joins her new boyfriend on a trip to the Western Isles of Scotland to protest a hazardous offshore drilling venture. When she realizes that she may be swept up in something far more dangerous than she'd intended, there is only one man she can turn to....

She and the mysterious but sexy dive boat captain haven't exactly gotten off to the best start, but something about his quiet confidence makes her think that he's the kind of man she can depend on. Because he's gruff and guarded, she can tell Dan Warren has secrets. But she could never imagine how high the stakes are for him to keep his cover, even as he risks everything to protect her....

Contains mature themes.

"McCarty's exciting contemporary series launch will not disappoint fans of her historical Highlands romances, as she finds plenty of ways to bring in Scottish elements and even the occasional kilt." ( Publishers Weekly)

A little slow in parts. The FMC lost some points with me when she doesn’t think things through fully which put’s other lives at risk especially the MMC and she just expects him to keep saving her, yet she doesn’t approve of his occupation and what he stands for.
This story is told from several POV’s and not just the 2 MC’s and only has one narrator and not a lot of different voices so you have to pay really close attention to who’s POV it is at the time or it gets confusing.
You don’t get a conclusion in this book, you have to keep reading series.

Strong and steady hero

I can’t stand this chick I had to turn the speed up because I still wanted to get the gist of the first book since the others in this series seems more promising but dang this girl just sucks. The only thing that saves me from not hating her completely is that in her own way she somewhat stands up for the military? You think she would more considering her dad was special ops as well as the hero in this book is but it’s something at the very least. (I get that she’s upset that the military didn’t take care of her dad when he had health and mental issues but you can’t blame the whole entire military because something happens you didn’t like or agree with.) Her ethics and morals and views are so twisted it’s not even funny and it’s surprising the hero of this book actually falls for her.

Narrator was okay but in the beginning of the book she used accents for the characters that I couldn’t understand 😂 the French people she made obvious but the rest were so confusing I had to rewind a few times to make sure I didn’t miss something lmao.

The heroine sucks

Going Dark sets the scene for another amazing series from the McCarty. The book opens by giving us a glimpse into the life's of the platoon members and then sets the stage for the rest series with anchor characters of Dean & Annie and Colt and Kate. As with all McCarty's books she provides an amazing love story full of sexual tension mixed with the right amount of drama and high stakes action to keep the reader highly engaged. I've only one complaint with the work - that I have to wait for the second installment! Great job and I can't wait to learn more about the lost platoon.

I enjoyed the premise of the story. A little sexy with a good story line that didn’t drag out

Good romantic suspense

Great beginning to this series! I went back and forth between listening and read this. I have to say, I liked reading more than listening this time. I loved Annie and Dean and am looking forward to more from these SEALs.

Great story

so I liked it but I fell in love with her medieval romance so I was a little disappointed when I learned her new series would take place in our time. Part of what disappointed me was that there are only a handful of really good Scottish romance authors. But it was a good book... perhaps from another perspective it was a good move for her because some of her books had become very repetitive.

I enjoyed the story line but the beginning was a little slow and took a lot of time to get into. I am glad I stuck it out but it is always hard to get through a beginning when there is a current boy friend.. no one wants to know about that really we just want to move on.

I liked the alone time they had and felt that they really got to know eachother. It had a pretty good plot as well. I look forward to the next book.

this was the first book I completed in months as far as romance I haven't finished one in 8 months so it was great feeling to get back into it

Good book.. I do wish it was a medieval romance

The narrator took a little bit of time to get used to with her voice but eventually I got into her. The female main character was a LITTLE annoying, making silly decisions, but I can understand someone who had little street smarts but very intelligent/book smart otherwise. I also kind of hated how the male main character was very political and kept going on and on about his conservative views *rolls eyes* and her being democrat and liberal. But otherwise, a good romantic suspense overall.

Surprisingly good

The narrator is really challenging to listen to. A suggestion is not to hire elderly narrators to communicate younger characters in books. It never works. I felt like I'm listening to a scene out of the movie 'Cocoon'... Her accents are overdone and annoying to listen to. Once I can get past the Dorothy thing from the 'Golden Girls', the story seems to be shaping up to be okay. Still got 7hrs to go... Not sure if I can handle the narration.

Narrators make or break it

so far this series has hooked me. love the details and interesting facts Monica pulls in. her characters are balanced, the story keeps you guessing, can't wait to hear how she develops this new group of men and the women that drive them crazy.

Monica does it again!

Difficult to listen to this particular narrator. Much to monotone and uninteresting. Would never want to listen to her again.

Terrible narrator!
