About this listen

Glory Bishop lives her life in pieces. At work and with her friends, she reads novels, speaks her mind, and enjoys slow dances and stolen kisses with her boyfriend, JT. But at home, Glory follows strict rules and second-guesses every step. Though she dreams of going to college and living like a normal teenage girl, her abusive mother has other ideas.

When JT leaves to join the navy, Glory is left alone and heartsick. The preacher's son, Malcolm Porter, begins to shower her with lavish gifts, and her mother pushes Glory to accept his advances. Glory is torn between waiting for true love with JT or giving in to the overzealous Malcolm.

When a stranger attacks Glory on the street, Malcolm steps in to rescue her, and her interest in him deepens. But the closer she gets to him, the more controlling he becomes. Glory must eventually decide whether to rely on others or to be her own savior.

But the voice narration of main protagonist is too childish and annoying!! Story dragged quite often and behavior of mother kind of unbelievable for time period. Original narration in Msry Not Broken sshould have been carried over, especially "Ruthie". Story with Mary and child too fanatical to be believable

Story line was interesting

I did not like how it ended as it appeared to end in a weird spot with me the reader feeling like it ended in the middle of something and I don’t mean a cliff hanger. You weren’t left on the cliff rather perplexed as if ended on a note of “ nothing”. Weird

Good storyline. I didn’t think I would like a book involving a church and religion; thanks goodness I gave it a try.

I enjoyed this book. It’s hard reading all of the abuse and deception that occurs in the book but it was a great book.

Loved it!

Mary was the most disturbed mother that I could ever imagine. Mary inflicted her delusions regarding religion upon her daughter glory. It was a good ride a good read, but always with the hope that Mary would come to her senses regarding her daughter and the control that she heaps upon her daughter’s life, I look forward to the next book in this series. This was awesome and also a must read Speaks what happens when you’re so indoctrinated that you can’t live your life to the fullest.

Mommy dearest has nothing on Mary

At times, I wished I could hop thru the book to defend Glory and sometimes, I was mad that she wasn't defending herself. She did what she could and I could relate...I hated that I could relate.

The abuse and Glory's strength to endure it

I was expecting so much more from this story. The ending left a lot of questions. Perhaps they will be cleared up in the next book hopefully. I did not care for whomever narrated Glory’s part. That baby voice just irked me and made it really hard to listen.

Underwhelmed
