About this listen

Following her heart is more dangerous than just falling in love....

Poisoned and left for dead, Bree's only hope is a heart of glass. She soon discovers the city is being tormented by the sister she left behind. With her trusted wolves by her side, Bree prepares herself for war, knowing it's the only way she can reclaim the city and restore order.

Sister against sister, wolf against wolf, everything is at stake, and the only thing that can persuade people to her side is to use the one thing she doesn't know how to control. Bree is determined to win, but is she ready to pay the price?

Glass Heart is a stand-alone urban fantasy with wolf shifters. It includes a low heat reverse harem romance.

Enjoyable, quick listen

First, I listened to the audio and the narrator did a good job. Her actual voice was good, but her narration for some of the males sounded too childish.

I liked that the story gets right into it. Bree has been poisoned and is about to die when she is saved. She’s given a magical glass heart. Loved the magical elements and the shifter stuff. The romance was a bit too light for my liking; this is a reverse harem, but it felt more like companions that kiss a little. It might have something to do with not reading about them getting together originally; they are already together for the story we are reading, so I didn’t quite feel the emotional attachment. This a short story, so there wasn’t much time to delve deeper, but the story is entertaining and has some bits of action. Overall, I enjoyed the listen. I’d say this is a 3.5 rating, but I rounded up to 4 because it did have some interesting elements.

There is a saying that blood is thicker than water

Glass heart totally grips you from the beginning and then explains the situation as the story progresses. I found it original and interesting. There is a saying blood is thicker than water but is it? You can pick your friends but not your relatives. So true.
I do like this author and the narrator did a good job.

Fun short story

This was a really fun short story that I would have loved to see as novel length. I think I might have enjoyed a smaller scaled plot more than the trying to fit a large scale story in a short book. But it was still very enjoyable to listen to. And there was enough character development that I felt I got to know them enough to be invested in what happened to them.

Jessica did a fantastic job as narrator, and I would happily listen to her again.

I hadn't experienced either Laura Greenwood or Jessica Hepburn before this and all in all I felt like this was almost more of a sampler of the author and narrator. And now that I've had a taste, I'm interested in finding more books by them.

Glass Heart

This is a great book if you’re short on time but still want a great paranormal story. I enjoyed this book and will hopefully find more like this.

Short listen with great detail

Glass Heart was a relatively short listen that I was able to wrap up in a day’s commute. It also surprised me by how much was actually pushed into such a short time frame. The story doesn’t waste any time opening with Bree and the action. From there it dives straight into the tale of the evil sister. I was pleased at how much detail was provided and that the characters had more than just a passing surface to them. While there could have been much more depth on Bree’s men, I think that would have been a distraction from the story. This was a stand alone story but perhaps later stories will tell their tales.

I thought that the narrator, Jessica M. Hepburn did a wonderful job as Bree nailing the emotion down. When Bree was upset or recalling things, or just internal monologue, it was easy to feel like you were right there.

Good story

Good quick read. The characters are well done and the storyline is sweet. It has a bit of sibling rivalry and a bit of romance as well.

Interesting Story but With Odd Holes

Glass Heart is a paranormal (light) reverse harem romance that centers around Bree, the rightful werewolf alpha, and her 3 mates, Darius, Fillian and Bir. The story starts with her dying and the men trying to save her. It seems like you are starting in the middle of a series, but as you listen you think that it will be explained later... this is a problem throughout the story. Something happens for example an explosion, the chapter ends on Bree asking what happened - then the next chapter starts days later and it is never discussed again. It feels like there are major gaps in the story and that the writer thinks you know more of the story than you really do. So while the story had a good potential, Laura Greenwood seemed to cut it away. I love her writing normally and I would love to have read this story as a full length story.

On the other hand, Jessica Hepburn was a great narrator! She had a great rhythm and kept the listener interested. I truly enjoyed her narrating style and would suggest her to anyone else.

Overall - the story had potential but fell short, while the narrator soared :) But I still would recommend this story, it was a great story and I really enjoyed the characters and the plot.

Felt lost

I felt lost from the beginning and was scrambling to catch up.
I would have loved a bit more of "what the hell happened to cause this" rather than feeling like I missed something from the start.
The narration left alot to be desired for me. The males all sounded like they were preteens waiting for their voices to change AND they all sounded alike. I feel that with maybe a bit more time and a different narrator would have been the best thing for this book. I think it could have been really cute.

Amazing Retelling

This was an amazing Snow White retelling reverse harem! Bree has been poisoned and is on the brink of death when her three shifter mates cut out her heart and replace it with a magical glass one. After she recovers, she finds out that her sister is torturing the city she left behind and her and her harem must prepare for war. I enjoyed this sister rivalry unfold and the relationship she had with Bier, Darius, and Fillian. For such a short story, this book was fast paced, action packed, had character development, romance, a great plot and didn’t feel rushed at all.
Jessica did a great job with this narration! I enjoyed the different voices she used for each character and the amount of passion that she used. She brought every character and their emotions to life with her performance and kept me hooked until the end!
