Fun New Series!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Diamond Files Mystery series written by Angela Pepper and narrated by Tiffany Williams. Abby Silver is a temp secretary with a super memory. When she's assigned to work with an unusual detective, Abby discovers she likes investigative work. No, she loves it. Within a week, she's helping her boss (and his trusty beagle, Chewie) chase down a murder suspect. Literally. Hijinx ensue!

The narrator Tiffany Williams did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Super cute mystery

After Abby takes a temp job with Derrick Diamond things really interesting. Together the two main characters set out to find a murderer and save the insurance company they're working for a lot of money. As secrets start to be revealed they find themselves with lots of suspects and even more questions. This quirky duo is determined to catch a killer and find out the truth.

It's all good

This was a truly enjoyable cozy mystery. The characters were interesting, the writing was good, and the narration was appropriate. I normally think of a "cozy" mystery as having more humor and lightness but that is not a criticism, just an observation. I think the narrator was particularly good - just the right tone and easy to listen to.

I looked for the second book because I wanted to buy and keep going with the series - too bad it isn't out yet.

I did receive this book for free but that did not influence my review (check out my other reviews and you can see that I will call it like I see it!).

Cute short story

Would you listen to Girl in the Shadows again? Why?

Yes, because it has lots of content. I will listen to it again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Girl in the Shadows?

When she is running in her spike heels on the grass. Every woman knows what that is like.

Have you listened to any of Tiffany Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this is the first time I have listened to Tiffany Willams but her performance was excellent here.

Enjoyed!!

Abby and Derek made a fun team of investigators. I was surprised at how much I smiled at this story. The relationship between the middle aged Derek and his temp assistant, Abby, was fun and quirky. And, of course, let's not forget the sidekick beagle, Chewie! The development of the characters was very good. Loved the way the book ended allowing for a quest for the 2nd book, but allowing for the 1st book to stand on it's own.Tiffany Williams does an excellent job in also allowing the listeners to keep up with who is speaking simply by their voice. I especially enjoyed the character of the hair dresser and all of the inflections in 'his' voice and character. I recommend this book with a hearty yes!

A great start to the series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd definitely recommend this book to friends who like cosy mysteries.

Have you listened to any of Tiffany Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Tiffany William's other performances but I would be happy to listen to more of her work and I hope she narrates the rest of this series as it is published.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed this cosy mystery. I really liked how Abby went through a 'Pretty Woman' moment and got a new makeover for the investigation. I also liked all the drama in her personal life. I could relate to her in lots of ways and I can't wait to see what her next adventure brings.
