About this listen

Former Special Forces brothers-in-arms now working together to provide an elite security service in the southern city of Richland.

Gabe Malloy, dedicated to his brothers, spent his weekends with cheap booze and easy women. When some of his friends finally settled down, he wondered if he would ever find the woman of his dreams. He just never expected to encounter her in an alley.

Jennifer Lambert worked as a social worker for the city and would often take food to the elderly residents in her building. One night, in an alley behind a restaurant, she was startled by a tall, handsome man wanting to assist. Giving him the cold shoulder, she left...but dreams of him followed her long into the night.

Gabe knew the independent Jennifer was a woman worthy of knowing, but convincing the beauty that she needed him was the challenge. Raising her young brother plus the responsibilities of the elder center had kept her from looking for love...but she took a chance on Gabe.

Now that he found her, can he keep her safe when someone threatens her and those she loves? Calling upon his brothers, Alvarez Security races to save her before it is too late.

AMAZING, Heartwarming and tearful!🌟👍

This is the first book I've read by this author. I cannot wait to read more. This story was extremely well written. It made me giggle , full on laugh, get mad and cry! The characters are caring and unafraid to express their feelings. Fantastic read about ex military and heartfelt. Those elderly in this story made me realize my parents could be up their in age but don't count them out!

cool good!

I love this book, everything about it was perfect, including the narration! Suuch a heart tugging story, in a very good way. One of my favorite parts was when the senior men, retired military, stepped forward announcing their military branch and rank, wanting to be part of saving Jennifer and Ross. I wouldn't change a thing about this book, it was perfect all around. Looking forward to continuing with the series!

Interesting story!

Story gets 4*s
The narrator gets 3*s and that’s being generous

I have to say he story itself was good. The hero and heroine are straight forward, stubborn, yet kind hearted people. They’re the kinds of characters you want to read about.

With that said.... I did not like the narrator at all. For me, she added nothing to the story. It was a drain of noise but I pressed on through it because I did like the story. Hopefully she puts more effort into he next story she reads.

Onto the god stuff:

Jenny and her little brother, Ross have lost their parents, yet they have a great life. Jenny works as a social worker and her brother, who is only eight, goes to school. They live in and elder care housing center that Jenny helped to open and life is good.

Then the big, bad, former delta force soldier, turned security expert, Gabe comes into her life and turns it upside down, in a real good way. He grows on her after some work, and they fall in love. Ross absolutely adores the big man which endears Jenny to him more.

So when danger comes calling, Gabe jumps into action alongside his team and vows to do everything he can to find his woman and her brother and takedown anyone that gets in his way.

Romance with a touch of danger

Jennifer is a young woman shouldering more than her fair share of responsibility. Caring for her younger brother, working as a city social worker, providing food and often aiding the elderly residents in her building. With her big heart, she doesn't consider any of this a burden. When she chances to meet Gabe, a tall, handsome, former special forces, she feels an attraction right away. And Gabe realizes that he is ready to settle down from his wild bachelor ways.

"Gently lowering himself to the sofa again, he curled one arm around Ross as he held Jennifer close. Protected. Safe. Loved. Together."

Gabe must protect Jennifer and her brother Ross when their building and their lives are in danger.

“I also told the little lad that people, just like the glass, can become polished and beautiful from the rough effects of life.”

Great narration. I enjoyed this book from beginning to beautiful epilogue.
I loved the romance with a bit of danger. I can't wait to read the stories of Gabe's brothers-in-arms.

Ok

I just didn't feel any chemistry between the two main characters. The premise of the book had definite possibilities but somehow didn't translate into the amazing book it could have been. The story is meant to be a action thriller/romance but to pull that off you have to get your audience caught up in the action at the climax of the book. (I was not.) Also I love a good sex scene and these felt like the author was just going through the motions without any real heat. (I may have fast forwarded through the last two just to get back to the main story)
I usually don't have any issues with the narrator however the male voice was just off. I'd pass on this one.
