About this listen

He lives to enforce the law. But he’ll break every rule to protect her.

Nick Clark

I clipped a shiny, new FBI badge to my belt, thinking I could save the world. Four years later, the shield’s got some dents, along with my idealism. And there’s one cold case that’s come back to haunt me.

A killer has resurfaced, and all my instincts tell me he’s after the victim that got away. I’ll break every rule in the book to protect beautiful, scarred Meadow. Because I’ve done the most dangerous, most distracting thing an agent can do. I’ve fallen for her.

Meadow Holiday

I don’t believe in fairy tales. Not after an attack left me a half a woman. But when Nick swears to protect me from my worst nightmare, his charm cracks my resolve to guard myself. One kiss shatters it.

But, like the evil villain in the tale, the killer won’t stop until he finishes what he started. And our happy ending balances on the point of a knife.

Sooooo Good!

I have already read the book in the past and I loved the chemistry between Meadow and Nick. I especially loved the voice of Troy In this book. Talk about spicy hot voice ….wow, just listening instead of reading from the book. No words but Hot! I forgot how sexy the scenes were in the book as I listened to it this time around. We get to also see the uncles in this book too for those of you who haven’t read the book. Can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series!

Amazing story

What an amazing, romantic suspense. I love Riley’s 707/next generation series. I’ve read this book multiple times. I also love listening to books I’ve read. But, I could not fully appreciate the story on audio. I did not like how the two narrators just switched the his/her chapters. I would have liked them to narrate their respective M/F roles regardless of chapters. This book is 5+ stars for content and worth the read.

May I have a Nick please?

What a terrific audiobook with amazing narration. Had me enthralled from the beginning. May I have a Nick please? Such a sweet, caring, protective man who'd do anything for Meadow. And Meadow found her strength and was very resilient after an harrowing experience. I will admit there was a little "open your eyes" internal commentary on my part because I saw the writing on the wall for the culprit pretty quick, but it still made for some edge of your seat, heart pounding anticipation as the mystery unfolded for the characters. Danger, action, cameos from old faces, and an HEA for a superb listen.

Mehhh

As always Troy Duran is fabulous but Devon Grace, nope, I can’t. Her soft spoken reading gets so old I’m skipping books in the series to get to the end.
She whispers and then speaks softly and there’s no inflection no emotions.
I’m so disappointed!
I’m really loving Riley Edward’s books and I hate that I can’t finish this series but nope.
I’m out.

Unexplainable connection…. need to protect her ...

I love that Riley tells us stories about hero’s…. Nick Clark’s story is the perfect hook for me to begin The Next Generation Series.

Nick is an FBI agent who is haunted by a cold case that he must face as the killer returns to come after their victim that got away.  He did not expect to be instantly and unexplicably pulled towards Meadow whom he vows to protect and falls hard for her.   He helps her relive the terrifying ordeal that she went through and makes her see how beautiful she is even through she has scars both visblie and invisible.

Their chemistry is wild and steamy and oh so good!!

This book is narrated by one of my favorite narrators Troy Duran and listening for the first time to Devon Grace. They both give incredible performances!

Nick and Meadow!

I was excited to listen to Saving Meadow, the story of FBI agent, Nicholas Clark, and Meadow Holiday, the victim of a horrible attack by a serial killer. Nick was in Nolan and Reagan's book, Freedom, in the 707 series. and since I read about him as a kid, I couldn't wait to get to know him as an adult. Nick becomes an FBI agent and due to his performance as well as his observation skills, he gets the chance to become a part of the Behavioral Analysis Unit aka the BAU. If you don't know what that is, think of Criminal Minds and there you go.

Nick's first case is tracking a serial woman who is targeting women, killing them, and mutilating their faces. Although Nick and the BAU work the case, it goes cold and there is no activity from the killer for four years. After all that time, another killing takes place. Is this person a copycat or has the killer returned?

Meadow is the first victim and although she lived, her face is scarred from the attack. Due to the trauma, she went through and the scarring, she has little confidence in herself and is afraid to put herself out there. I've seen some reviews calling her a doormat, but please, that is so not true. If I were in her shoes, I wouldn't even leave the house or possibly my bedroom. She goes to work and tries to live a somewhat normal life. To help her get through each day, she has an online relationship with a woman named Veronica and Beckie, from the coffee shop where she sees Nick, but doesn't approach him. However, when the killer returns, they're thrown together.

I loved how patient Nick was with Meadow. She blossomed under his caring and attention, making her understand her scar didn't define her. I liked that they built a relationship together. Saving Meadow is a well-written story with strong characters. There's a ton of suspense yet it didn't take away from Nick and Meadow's romance. I will say that there were times the narrator's voice scared me to death, lol. I thought both narrators did an amazing job. 5 stars to the author and the narrators. I can't wait to listen to the next story.

Great Romantic Suspense for this New Series!

I received an ALC of this audiobook for my honest review.

This is the first novel in the Next Generation series, which follows the children from the author's previous 707 Freedom series. It is a stand alone and it is not necessary to have read the previous series. This particular story is focused on Nick who is an FBI agent and put on a serial killer case. He falls in love with Meadow who is a survivor of an extremely violent attack.

Meadow is tormented by nightmares of her attack, and has suffered tremendous blows to her self worth, self esteem, and overall mental health. Nick steps in fearlessly and is determined to love her until she can love herself. If you are someone who doesn't enjoy reading first person perspectives of women with extremely low self esteem and feelings of worthlessness, you may struggle early on with this story. But I would encourage you to stick with it, because there is tremendous healing that comes later on. It also helps to know that Meadow's thoughts of worthlessness stem from incredible abuse, so it seemed rational to me.

This was my first introduction to Riley Edwards as an author, and I enjoyed her writing style. The story had an easy flow, without an overly complicated plot. While there is no plot twist in this murder-mystery romance/romance suspense, I think it would be a great starter novel to anyone who wants to dip their toe into that genre.

The voice actors did a wonderful job with these characters and really brought them to life. Devon Grace's soft tone communicated Meadow's fragile emotional state in a very realistic way. Troy Duran does not disappoint with his ability to express tenderness and sensitivity with his characters. 5 star performance from them! Look forward to the other books in this series.

Nick and Meadow

I am new to Riley Edwards, and I am kicking myself for not jumping on the Edwards train!!

Nick is an agent who is working a case! He had his hands tied and is trying to figure out the who, what, when and where of the case. Nick gets to meet the first and only person who survived the suspect and from the beginning he knew he needed to protect her.

Meadow is feisty, strong, and smart. She doesn’t see that in herself but her perseverance in life proved not only to Nick but others that she will not quit. She has hidden in herself to protect what’s left of what she thinks is holding her together, but she is wrong, and Nick is there to prove it!!

Nick and Meadow have a battle ahead and the unknown is the worst part. He must fill her in on everything happening in the case, but she also needs to tell him her life, the past and present. As things start to unravel, Nick and Meadow begin putting more and more things together. Nick’s instincts are spot on but is he missing something? Meadow is blindly in the dark, but can she figure things out before it’s too late?

Saving Meadow will have you on the edge of your seat cheering and screaming at these characters. I loved this story and listening to the narrators bring the story to life only made it better!
