Frontier Favorite
From beginning to end, Johnstone captured my attention for the history of America’s expansion westward. Maybe one day this book will be presented on the big screen as a testament to those who blazed the trail of American exceptionalism.

Action packed with many turns and twists. Narration is wonderful and kept me listening at every possible moment. I can't wait to download another by Johnstone or Turner.

Good story with lots of suspense
It took 13 chapters of listening to realize that Preacher and Jamie McAllister were different people! Although I liked the narrator’s voice, all the male character’s voices were the same. I figured it out but I wished it had been different.

The twist and turns, thought story going one way, and didn't. Loved I couldn't predict. I love the preacher series.
Loved disliking the Sargeant, such a bad person. Thought the Officer in charge got off to easy.

An engrossing, exciting story
I loved the story. Action throughout. It kept my interest and I listened/read the book in less than a week. Unlike some, I liked the narration and I think he did an excellent job. I felt the same way about the other books he has narrated. I’d love to meet or talk with the Johnstones. They have written dozens of books and I have found those I have read entertaining. They certainly know a lot about settling the frontier. How do they continue to come up with their ideas and turn them into so many exciting books? It would be a fun lunch.
