Harris has done it again! I've read all her books and love her heroine, Suki Stackhouse, a Southern sweetie with the ability to read other people's minds. And wishes she could lose that aspect of herself. Her friends and lovers, and former lovers are all "supers" - supernaturals. From Dead to Worse has Suki discovering a new and very intriguing relative... or two, during a time of upheaval in the world of vamps and were's, and the people who want them dead. This audiobook kept me listening till far into the night and going to work the next day with dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep. Can't wait till the next book in this series!

Would you consider the audio edition of From Dead to Worse to be better than the print version?

I haven't seen the print version, so I can't say.

What did you like best about this story?

As always, Sookie's attitude, spunk, and sweetness, plus a good dose of action and mystery.

Another fun addition to the series

If you are looking for deep reading you will need to go elsewhere. There's drama, intrigue, romance, and of course all the supernatural creatures you can imagine.
I wanted to listen to the next book as soon as I finished one. I like Charlaine Harris, and I like all the characters. It's interesting reading these after watching the True Blood shows. There have definitely been some changes in the show, the books are only from Sookie's viewpoint, so the show would have to be different to show the other people's view points. Well done.

Enjoyable

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot kept me playing the audio book even though it was a little slower that the previous ones. Yes there was some rehashing however I find in series books there is always some rehashing. I feel that Sookie should have found a way to stay with Quinn. I feel he was best for her; he loved her for her, he accepted her and her gift and he never expected anything from her except the truth. I was disappointed that the story line lead to Sookie and Quinn ending.

Any additional comments?

I am looking forward to the remainder of the series.

Sookie is such an Underrated Protagonist. She had dealt with so much, and this book continues to give her more grief, yet she keeps on going! The author does great with the world-building. The Sookie series is worth the read!!

you can feel the emotions

Every were and vampire Sookie gets around winds up getting her beaten, shot, staked, raped, and generally treated like hell. Alsead was a self centered ass, Quinn was a self centered ass (well, centered on his whack mom and can't find five minutes to call for WEEKS after Rhodes?) Bill feels terribly guilty for his horrible betrayal of Sookie, and Eric, well, Eric is still just self-centered Eric.

I think she should wind up with Sam! He is warm, loving, caring, (did I mention Warm?? As in his whole body is warm ... not a cold, dead body!)

I'm rooting for Sam . . . hey, I used to handle dead bodies for a living. Sleeping with one? Hooooo boy! NOT a nice thing to consider!

Rereading the whole series now, and really love Sookie, and since I listen to Audible, I can't tell you how much I love Johanna. She IS Sookie Stackhouse.

I'm rooting for Sam!

I am enjoying listening to these books while I quilt. I was really disappointed that there are inconsistencies in this book from prior books. For instance, last book makes a point about the bar not being open on Sunday; this book has Sookie working Sunday "though the bar is only open in the afternoons on Sunday." There are other such items - makes you wonder if it was written by a ghost writer. Still a good story.

Good, not great but with inconsistencies

I waited to write a review until I listened to all 12 books. I loved them all. Sookie is a breath of fresh air small town girl who has had problems in the past with romance because she has the gift of reading minds. Imagine going on a date and hearing everything the guy was thinking... Not good. With vampires out of the closet, she finds she can't read vampire minds. Finally she can have true romance. There is also Mystery, Murder, and Mayhem and more supernatural creatures to be revealed!
I loved all the characters and how the story unfolded through all the books. It was bitter sweet that it had to come to an end. I was going to watch True Blood on HBO until friends told me it wasn't nearly as good as the books and had way too much porn!! I will leave the same review for all twelve books. Sookie just wouldn't be Sookie without Johanna Parker, I loved her voice!

I Love Sookie Stackhouse!!!

I have read the whole series previously; this is the point where I lost interest in the series. I didn’t like how things were settled with Quinn, while Erik is my true love of the series I still liked Quinn and felt he got shafted. We meet more of Sookie’s relatives, like her they are all a bit strange. I might try one more book as the rest of the series is still good, just not as good. Narration is excellent.

Found: Lost relatives.

Bit of a revelation early on (though not wholly a surprise). Sookie’s developing an attitude, and I like it on her. Lots of action and changes in this one. Love love love Johanna Parker. I can always tell who’s talking, even when the cast is fairly large. Not only does she do all of the accents and voices so well that she imbues all of the characters with real personality, but she does it while making me forget I’m even being read to. “Tru Blood” sp? disappointed me greatly, and not least because none of the actors came close to what I got from Ms. Parker.

Loved It
