About this listen

After a devastating car crash wipes out her family, Laura struggles to get her life together. Grieving, she becomes forgetful. She doesn't remember how money got into her purse, or buying that pint of milk....

Adam is the perfect boyfriend. He cooks meals. He does the housework. He looks after Laura's every need. He knows everything about her. But Laura has never met Adam. And she knows nothing about him.

What turned him into a monster who stalks his victims? How did he become warped from a sensitive boy who adored the fairy tales his gran read to him? And what is he trying to say with the bouquets he sends?

Brilliant storyline

Such a brilliant and clever story. It really goes into a lot of detail bout the main character do you get the whole picture. From the trophies to his hallmark signature. WOW! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and absolutely love listening to Shaun Grindell narrate any book

Didn't work for me

If you can accept that Adam, the misunderstood serial killer, is a real person, then you will probably really enjoy this suspense/thriller. I couldn't buy it--he struck me as the author's fantasy of what a serial killer might be like, described repetitively in great detail. Given Adam's history, there just seemed to be something way off in the naive yet cunning psychopath he became. The book's flowery finale was truly unbelievable.

Terrible narration

The reader sounds like a reporter rather than an actor, which is what a quality narrator should aspire to. The reading is clipped and unnatural with inflection in all the wrong places. It’s hard to even rate the story when the narration clouds it so much. Not finishing and not recommending.

Awful narration

I quit 20 minutes in. The narrator made me want to scream. Every sentence has the same intonation. Awful. I wanted to gouge my ears out.

Flowers for the Dead

I've read the other books by Copperthwaite, and they were fairly entertaining. This one, however, was completely different from the others. More police procedural...and not very realistic. I probably would have enjoyed it more if someone else had read it. The guy should stick to non-fiction or something. It was horrible. He would read a sentence and put emphasis on various words for no apparent reason. At the very least, a female narrator should have read the "Laura" parts. This is the perfect example of a good plot ruined by bad narration.

When will I learn to do the sample listen??

Only got a few chapters in…COULD NOT STAND the narrator. To be fair, could be a good book but I can’t suffer through it.
