About this listen

In Jeffrey Archer's First Among Equals, Charles Seymour, second-born son, will never be the earl like his father, but he did inherit his mother's strength - and the will to realize his destiny....

Simon Kerslake's father sacrificed everything to make sure his son's dreams come true. Now it is Simon's chance to rise as high as those dreams allow....

Ray Gould was born to the back streets but raised with pride - a quality matched by a sharp intellect and the desire to attain the impossible....

Andrew Fraser was raised by a soccer hero turned politician. Now it's his turn for heroics, whatever the cost.

From strangers to rivals, four men embark on a journey for the highest stakes of all - the keys to No. 10 Downing Street. Unfolding over three decades, their honor will be tested, their loyalties betrayed, and their love of family and country challenged. But in a game where there is a first among equals, only one can triumph.

Coming from a big Jeffrey Archer fan, this was a big disappointment for me. If this was my first Archer book, it would be my last.

Worst Archer yet

It is just a great reed. Held.me.spellbound in several readings! I tried to give it 5 stars on everything, but my IPad isn't letting me.

Love it every time I hear it!

Highly recommend listening. However not as good as some of his other books written to date.

Listenable.

Long story. Hard to follow the players if you are familiar with the British governmental system.

Good but hard to keep characters straight

Anyone who enjoys the tactics, strategy, and ins-and-outs of British politics will surely enjoy this book.

Very good book for fans of British politics.

I'm giving up on this book and returning to Audible. I started the book three different times to determine if "I just missed something." I have listened too half of the book and still don't know my characters that well. Jeffrey Archer is one of my favorite authors and my library is filled with his books. I just can't get into this one. British politics? Well maybe...certainly I'm not a Brit. However, all of his other books have fascinated me.;

Don't worry, I will still read his books as they come out and look forward to his new release in two months.

A disappointment for Jeffrey Archer fan

Jeffrey Archer is one of my favorite authors and John Lee one of my favorite narrators. But this book I did not enjoy. Couldn't finish it. It's about British politics and not much else of a story. Just not for me. I HIGHLY recommend A prisoner of birth. One Archer's best!

Only if British politics interests you.
