About this listen

Nearly a decade after his last volume of short stories was published, Jeffrey Archer returns with his eagerly awaited brand-new audiobook collection. Tell Tale gives listeners a fascinating, exciting, and sometimes poignant insight into the people he has met, the stories he has come across, and the countries he has visited during the past 10 years.

Find out what happens to the hapless young detective from Naples who travels to an Italian hillside town to find out "Who Killed the Mayor?" and the pretentious schoolboy in "A Road to Damascus", whose discovery of the origins of his father's wealth changes his life in the most profound way.

Revel in the stories of the 1930s woman who dares to challenge the men at her Ivy League university in "A Gentleman and a Scholar" while another young woman who thumbs a lift gets more than she bargained for in "A Wasted Hour".

These wonderfully engaging and always refreshingly original tales explain why Archer has been described by The Times as probably the greatest storyteller of our age. A must-listen for anyone who seeks an audio adventure!

With more than just a twist

Very enjoyable. Only the jarring too-short pause between tales spoils the narration, moving from irritating to disrespectful when the eulogy postscript of “A Good Toss to Lose” runs ironically into the title of “A Perfect Murder”. Please space chapters a second more to let the listener digest - or reach the pause button!

Well done!

I would recommend this book of tales to anyone who enjoys well constructed stories , each with a moral twist.
Narrator Bathurst was brilliant as were the words by Archer.

Master of the Short Story

I’ve read a few of Jeffrey Archer’s short story collections, and most of them have been very enjoyable. He does great surprise endings and manages to work in twists, even in this short form.

This collection is highly recommended!

Always a great story teller

Enjoyed the stories, a few more than others. Archer excels with his male characters, giving them cunning and humor. The females are less dimensional, often having very little to say. The stories were fun though and I love a good collection of short stories.
