About this listen

They’ve been running from the one thing that might save them….

Blake

Love and pain always go together.

That’s why I like to keep my life easy. Simple. Commitment free.

So, with my MMA career in full swing, and with an injury to overcome, stupid romantic distractions are the last thing I need.

And Layla has distraction written all over her. She’s got enough emotional baggage to fill a 747. I don’t do baggage. I need to stay away. But for some reason…I can’t….

Layla

I’ll never let a man hurt me again.

I escaped my horrific marriage, and now I’m ready to be the best single mom I can be. Maybe I’ll even reclaim the pieces of myself I lost over the years.

There’s no way I’m letting Blake Daniels derail my fresh start.

Except…I want him with an intensity that triggers my deep, dark insecurities. I should walk away before I get in over my head.

But what if I’m already too late?

Fighting to Forgive, book 2 in the Fighting series, is an emotional, angsty, contemporary, steamy, older woman/younger man, sports romance with a guaranteed happily ever after. Download today and get ready to fall for Blake and Layla.

Love this book! This series is amazing!

I listened to this book through Audible and I absolutely loved it. J. B. Salsbury is one of my favorite authors & she is crazy amazing talented.
I was immediately wrapped up in the story & fell in love with Blake & Layla. Ryan West & Erin Mallon are by far the best Narrator's I've ever heard - they truly bring these characters to life.
I loved the build up of Blake & Layla's relationship. They were exciting, with fun sexual tension & perfect chemistry. They each had a heartbreaking past & were scared to open up & let go. They helped each other heal & I love how careful & sweet Blake was with Layla. When they are in bed & he talks about her scars I thought he couldn't be more perfect. I adored how protective Blake was with both Layla & Axl & I thought the way Blake treated Axl made him ten times hotter- if that's even possible.
I was so excited that Jonah & Raven were added in this book - I love when authors bring previous characters back, especially when it's more than just a tiny mention. Everyone definitely needs to read this series (or listen to - Ryan West has a super sexy voice =) )

One of the Best

Oh my! this was a great second book. Each of these books are individual stories but should be read together.

I loved this one as it shows what happens to people who have been mentally abused and highlights 'marriage rape'.

I would recommend this to all!

Ok. Greg book BUT

I hated the part she pushed him away when her awful evil pissant husband comes and she throws Snake out. it didn't make any sense and it so far fetched. H7ubbye could have stop that asshole before all of the BS started. I just think it was to unrealistic. she has freaking MMS Fighter right there for her and could have protected her and everyone from the start. I mean I get you had to make the book longer and after I got over t >and he disgust of that part of the book it was better but it was so f'ing annoying and frustrating. It makes woman look stupid and incompetent. I hate when writers do this. there was a better way for the writer to do that part of the book. "Ok so let's see Kick her hero/savior out and break his heart just for her to want to run away and and get rescued or whatever. it was my just to much. The book could have done without all of that BS. but other than that I get it and it as a great book.i wohld.have pissed if I played money for this book instead of having it in my romance package just for that part of the book. Try to knock the stupid shit out next time.

Good book in series!

Dealing with the world of MMA fighting, this audiobook has a hero who is cocky and a womanizer falling for a pretty mom to a teenager. The elements of the story came together in a way that kept my attention riveted to the story and the characters were likeable. The heroine is the victim of spousal abuse for many years. The hero has issues stemming from an authoritarian father who didn't show love to his family. The narration was done well.

Ohhhh Blake...

You could sing Bon Jovi's 'I'll Be There For You' to me anytime! That last 45 minutes or so was probably the best part of the book for me.

Blake has childhood issues from mommy and daddy that follow him into adulthood and makes him keep feelings at a distance. He's all about meaningless hook ups with no strings and no feelings involved. That is until he meets his little 'Mouse' and he can't help but trail after her like a cat on a hunt. She is a single mother to her 16 year old daughter with emotional and ex husband baggage, so she is everything Blake avoids. Layla's shyness, yet determination to be independent and strong intrigue him. She's all of 5'2 (to his 6'2) and lean and beautiful, but has major self esteem issues due to her d-bag ex who was verbally abusive to her the entire 17 years they were together. Blake cannot help himself to want to protect her and her daughter. They have a mutual love of music and sense of humor and it isn't long before they give into the attraction and they both help each other with their past emotional issues and bring each other out of their shells.

Unfortunately, Layla's ex has been following her whereabouts all along and Blake has been unwittingly caught in the middle of his big plan to take her back, not woo or win her back, but 'take' her back whether she wants to or not. When he shows back up to bring her and her daughter home; the things he reveals from their past and how her daughter was conceived was unfathomable, but unfortunately very real for some. Blake gets tricked, things get heated, he ends up almost losing everything that means something to him, but Layla proves she is no longer a weak, powerless person and she fights for everyone she cares about, even if it means she might lose Blake after all is said and done.

Absolutely adored the end, best part of the book for me. Blake embracing his musical talents and serenading the loves of his life...priceless. Excited for Rex's story next. Love a guy with tats, piercings and in a band to boot on top of being a MMA fighter...he's more than a trifecta! Again, very pleased with the narration of these two.

better than the 1st

I liked this one better than the 1st... but still some of the “airhead” comments & actions from “adults” can be frustrating to me... but overall I enjoyed

Good

This is even better than the first. On to book number three. I'm pretty picky and I would say this is worth it.

Loved it!

I loved everything about this book! Loved the characters, the story, and the performance. There are some very heavy issues covered and probably isn't for everyone but I am loving this series and this author more and more.
