did not hold my interest.

I started this book several times. every time I found myself loosing interest. no of the characters held my interest.

Great story another good narrator.

Good or bad the narrator can make an okay story great, and a great story bad. I have experienced both with my time listening to Audible. This a really good story with a really good narrator. Hence a great experience. You'll love this book, the flow of the story is great. The characters are realistic and well thought out I think. Do yourself a favor a go e this title a listen!

great series

if you love lotr and other Saga tales this one is for you. the audio book is well done and book one pulls you into the series with avengance.

David Estes is unique

It's difficult to compare Estes to other fantasy writers. So I'll compare this series to his other audiobook series, 'The Kingfall Histories," which is weirdly similar to this series. Basically, Derek Perkins is an excellent storyteller. But he doesn't make a story "come alive" like Tim Gerard Reynolds does.

Gripping page turner. Characters are so realistic

Fantastic story narrated very well. David Estes writes such great stories. The characters are well developed and he keeps it from getting boring.

I was drawn into his world in the first chapter. I think the narrator put just the right amount of emotion into the scenes.

The prologues brought much to light. I'm glad I waited til the end to "read" them. I'm hooked on Estes books. well worth the credit!

I usually let logic pass when I'm listening to this but this one. gets a semi Band review simply because it's too much in one area like a dingo ate my baby seriously of wolf just wanders into the castle eats the heir apparent and everybody buys the story. it was just too much of a stretch among others

Wonderful Book

Its amazing reading some of the other reviews at how many people were upset at the idea of there being homosexual heroes, or women who didn't fit the mold of polite and petite little princesses. These are things that you would find in everyday life, the fact that people are angry that they can't imagine a fantasy in which these people exist shows just how closed minded some people are. Loved it, as well as the rest of the books and the Kingfall series, it would be amazing to see Estes bring these stories to the movies.

Not for me.

Hours into the book and I still am unable to emotionally invest into a single character. They’re all so lifeless and seem to act in accordance with the story, which is fine when those actions are also consistent with the way you expect people to act and behave. These characters feel like puppets, and leave so little impression that I can’t even remember their names.

Estes is the man!

David Estes has not failed me thus far! Looking forward to book 2! Very deep and well planned out.

Loved it

It’s a little hard to keep the characters straight in this one, probably because I’m listening to the audio book, but I’m thinking as the books go ion, it’ll be easier to keep all the stories straight.

I started with the Kingfall series before realizing that there is still one book yet to be released. I was happy to find out that this series pre-dates that one and is complete so I’m binging it now as I go about my day.

Narrator is great.
