Publisher's summary

He is the very essence of my life, the guiding star of my universe, and the eternal object of my desires.

Haunted by my past, I found solace in running away. That’s how I ended up in Boston. Here, I, Ivy McAlister, have everything I need: a caring boyfriend, Mike, who wants me to move in with him; a spot in the Harvard MBA program that I have worked hard to secure; and life away from Manhattan, where I can sleep without being tormented by my nightmares. My needs are met, but my wants are not…
The problem? The man of my dreams and my boyfriend are two different people.
Nick was unattainable then, and he is unavailable now. Nevertheless, he is a force of nature, the very essence of my life, the guiding star of my universe, and the eternal object of my desires. He has the power to make me whole again or break me into pieces. I ran away from him the day I was going to confess my feelings to him. He let me go and never came after me…until now.

Great light read for a relaxing weekend

I really liked how the characters have been built in the book. Seems like there may be some exciting sequels coming from the author.
Loved the passion and chemistry between main characters. Though I hope in the next book there is even more of it! Can’t wait for the next one. Hope it’s available before my next vacation!

A big city romance and a breezy summer read. Brennan Koenigsreuter did an awesome job giving voice to Ivy McAlister. A great love triangle, second chance romance read.

Cliffhanger...

Fate Intertwined by Delia Duke is an emotional, fast-paced romance that follows Ivy McAlister, who’s torn between her current boyfriend, Mike, and Nick, the man she's never stopped loving. It’s a mix of love, regret, and second chances, with plenty of tension as Ivy’s past catches up with her.

Brennan Koenigsreuter’s performance was great. She really captured Ivy’s emotions and the drama between the characters, making the story more engaging.

If you like love triangles, second-chance romance, and quick, emotional reads, this is for you.

NOTE this does finish on a cliffhanger, but for me I can’t wait for book 2!.

Future Divorce in the Making … and a Cliffie

This book is not the couple's complete story. It ends on a rather unsatisfying cliffhanger and quite abruptly. Before that, I found the story disappointing. All the scenes of the story between the couple are all the same: him telling her they're meant to be together, her resisting that for several reasons, and them kissing (and eventually, having sex). There is no romantic development beyond them going from not being intimate to adding sex to the goings on between them. We learn some of her life before and between these scenes, but we learn little about him. He is a total alph-hole, in my opinion, with little or no redeeming qualities. He's definitely a player and is highly controlling and possessive. In fact, in their scenes between them, you get a sense that when and if they do get together, it will be a terrible relationship that may go on for some time but will ultimately end in them not being together because, at some point, she will grow up and not want to be controlled and manipulated to the extent he will undoubtedly do. She is quite a bit younger than him, her in her early twenties and him in his early 30s, but apparently, they've both been attracted to each other for a while. Creepy to imagine a much older man being attracted to her when she was a teen. To me, the scenes between them were not romantic in any way. Their repetitive nature was so predictable that it became boring, each being nearly the same in content: him telling her with intensity and certainty how much they're meant to be together (even though both are with somebody else when the story starts and the author does not show us how us any “couplish” feelings/sentiments between them except their supposed physical chemistry), her resisting being together, and then a supposedly mind-blowing kiss or other intimate encounter. Going into this story, I didn't realize this book wouldn't be the couple's complete story. After what happened throughout the book, I feel no compunction whatsoever to find out what happens to them. Not recommended.
