THE STORY

When the world of Damnos is hit by cataclysmic earthquakes, an ancient force is awakened. Deep beneath the earth, the necrons rise from their slumber to decimate the human populace. All appears lost until salvation comes from the heavens – the Ultramarines brave an orbital bombardment to deploy their forces on Damnos, led by two legendary warriors – Captain Cato Sicarius and Chief Librarian Tigurius.

These warriors are the planet's last, great hope against the remorseless alien foes, but tensions within their ranks threaten to derail victory. Good story about the Ultramarines

Loved the menacing way the writer portrayed the Necrons. Didn't have my attention all the way through, and it ended on a cliffhanger. But all in all, a solid 40K story with a good narrator.

ultramarines versus necrons. excellent book

Another awesome space marine book. In this story they are fighting the necrons so expect lots of violence, gauss flayers, and typical necron battle tactics.
10/10 book.
The voice actor does a great job.

Pleasant listen

It’s Space marines versus necrons in the beforetimes when Guilliman is still asleep. Worth listening for cool space marine moments. Base humans are only there to connect the different moments of the “war”.

The Blue 300

Think of 300, except Ultramarines instead of Spartans, a frozen planet called Damnos instead of Thermopylae, and an endless horde of Necrons instead of the Persian immortals and you get Fall of Damnos.

Overall, not a bad book, and definitely picks up steam in the second half. There's some cool maps and diagrams inside as well to add a bit of flavor to the story. Definitely recommended to fans of Warhammer 40k.

Narrator good, Story pretty good (spoiledish review)

Reed does a spectacular job as always, the story was good and i found myself getting attached to each of the different sergeants. Thing is, no named marine died. Non of the sergeants died which was a shock.

Boring - no real story

Tried reading it, couldn’t get through it. So I thought I would listen to it instead. Boring recount of a battle, with lots of flashbacks to years prior. It was amusing to see the Necron units from the game fleshed out, so they did a good job there, but the story was lackluster and boring. Gaunt’s Ghosts are better 40k stories, avoid this, and read those.

Dull

Ultramarines fight nekrons in a very predictable manner. None of the characters inspires any particular emotional interest.
