Acerca de esta escucha

A smart, funny, and refreshingly candid memoir from Mark Hoppus, the vocalist, bassist, and founding member of pop-punk band blink-182. Narrated in his own voice, the audiobook offers an intimate and immersive experience that fans won’t want to miss.

This is the story of an angst-filled kid from the desert, navigating the chaos of his parents' bitter divorce and searching for his place in the world. Each move across the country was a chance to reinvent himself, switching identities from dork to goth to skate punk, and eventually meeting his best friend who just so happens to be his musical soulmate.

With sharp humor and raw honesty, Fahrenheit-182 takes listeners through Mark's formative years as a latchkey kid in the 1980s, hooked on punk rock, skateboards, and MTV. Along the way, Mark reflects on his lifelong battle with anxiety, his celebrated career with blink-182, and his public fight with cancer, in a voice that’s both relatable and unmistakably his own.

Threaded with heartfelt grit, Fahrenheit-182 is more than just a memoir for blink-182 fans. It’s a funny, smart, and deeply human story for anyone who’s struggled, reinvented themselves, wanted to quit but kept going.

Fahrenheit-182 was raw, real, and kept me hooked the whole way through. I’ve never been a hardcore blink-182 fan, more of a casual listener over the years, but hearing Mark open up about the early days of blink and his rocky relationship with Tom was super interesting.

What really hit me were the chapters about his cancer. My wife was recently diagnosed, and the way Mark talked about chemo and everything that comes with it was spot on. It was honest, emotional, and didn’t shy away from the tough stuff. Loved that and it even made me tear up a few times.

My only real gripes were that some chapters felt a little rushed, especially around big blink moments like the second reunion, Skiba albums, and Tom’s second return. I would’ve loved more stories of what it was like recording albums, writing songs, all that but I get that not everyone wants that deep dive. Also, the writing was a bit all over the place at times. Listening to Mark narrate helped smooth that out, but I could see it being harder to follow in print.

Still, it’s a solid read (or listen) and definitely worth checking out, whether you’re a longtime fan or just someone who’s had blink’s songs on your playlists over the years.

Such a great book. It was great to hear about Mark’s life and the band. I’m a huge fan and this broke my heart and melted my heart. It really brings the music and relationships into light. The honesty about the struggles and love are something we can all relate to in some way.
Thank you for sharing your story Mark!

Just finished it, and listening to the story of one of the bands that shaped my music taste growing up was special. It makes you realize that everyone is just a person trying to chase what they love in life. It’s validating hearing the very human experience of Mark Hoppus and his struggles and successes. I loved it!

I’m pretty sure it’s “Snorlaxen”, Mark.

I am a huge blink fan! Ever since I heard Dammit in Can’t Hardly Wait blink has been my favorite band through every iteration and phase of the band. Hearing this story and Mark being the anchor that often kept the band together made me better understand their music and why I love them, and Mark, so much. I remember crying when I heard One More Time and saying to myself, I can’t believe the guys who wrote the summer soundtracks about having fun made me cry this hard; well Mark did it again here. I cried hearing his stories about loss and battling cancer and ultimately getting the band back together to put out what is my favorite blink album! This is a great read for lovers of the band and it’ll make you want to jam for hours after, and maybe, just maybe make you appreciate every day just a little bit more!

If you love blink you’ll love this!
