The Remastered Edition…Because There’s Always More to the Story

Dave Grohl’s The Storyteller created a sensation when it was initially published, becoming a global bestseller and thrilling fans and critics alike. Readers came to the book for Dave’s heartfelt voice, his love of family and music, and the energy that pours from every page.

Dave’s is an extraordinary life made of up ordinary moments, and he tells stories just like he writes songs—from his soul. Whether recounting his time as kid in Toughskins in the Virginia suburbs, as a skinny teenager drumming his heart out for punk band Scream, living through the explosion and implosion of Nirvana, or hustling all the way around the world to escort his daughters to the Father/Daughter dance (only to be ignored as soon as his girls found their friends) The Storyteller is just like its author, as real as it gets.

To show his appreciation for his fans, and to celebrate his love of writing, this edition offers a wide variety of extra content, including:

  • An essay on how Dave approaches creativity (Here’s a hint: you don’t have to think outside of the box. Just ignore it.)
  • A series of prompts to jump start your creativity
  • The story of when Dave first met Paul McCartney
  • A collection of Dave’s curated playlists, giving a glimpse into some of the music he loves

The Storyteller has challenged what a music memoir can be. With this edition, the legacy continues.

The early years of Dave’s drumming, touring in a van, the mad junkies chasing him with pipes, & the Nirvana years.

I was impressed with Grohl’s storytelling and narration. However, I wanted to hear more about his Nirvana days & his journey with Taylor Hawkins. I loved his stories about his Mom, his wife & kids. You could hear the love & devotion he has for his family. Ultimately, I loved his expressions of joy for music, his passion for his craft as a musician & songwriter; being a fan of others, & a radically cool human being toward all of the fans of his music, bands & friends!

Revised and amazing, Dave Grohl is the perfect storyteller.

Nothing compares to this autobiography by all around nice guy Dave Grohl and the fact that he revised it makes it all the more better. I must have listened to this like 4 times already because I simply can't get enough.

Even better than I hoped

Love this guy as a musician, and Dave delights as a writer. We'll done, man. Interesting and compelling and warm and inspiring and sad and funny. What more could a rock fan want. Highly recommend.

Loved it

What a great, talented, interesting guy. Loved hearing more of his story and getting a glimpse into his psyche and some of the behind the scenes. A talented artist and down to earth person. Definitely a good listen.

I am going to miss this book so much that I will have to listen again.

I didn’t want this book to end. It’s so honest and open that I feel like we are best friends now, so I just want to hear more stories about his incredible life. This book is beyond well written and entertaining. Just perfect. Thank you, Dave, for sharing these words with the world!

A Must Listen for Every Creator

Really enjoyed Dave reading his book, the details and pictures he used when telling stories I have never listened to any of his bands as of today, tested stories of starting out, his influences on his journey really makes me appreciate Dave and his journey to success. Mistakes, Victories, Challenges and the way Dave kept going on his journey inspire me and should inspire every creator that has a dream. Riding and sleeping in vans, on the floors, from small clubs and years later rocking arenas and stadiums. And appreciating the fans is a true success story.
The chapter of the daddy- daughter dance really shows who Dave is as a father and human being, the human element of a “rock star” really got to me, and I do not have kids.
I highly recommend this book, to even people that like me, have only heard of Dave Grohl, yet never listened to his music.
I wish I’d listened to the book prior to writing my own book about my “A Crazy Journey (And Finding My True Identity) book about my
40 years in the music, entertainment, sports and other businesses.
Something told me when I was scrolling through titles to chose, to listen to the book and I’m glad I listened to that voice.
Thank You Audible and that You Dave Grohl.

Amazing

11/10 can’t say enough and look things about it. Dav comes across as a genuine for the people fan with as much pain and notoriety that he has. It’s amazing to hear how much he gets excited from eating one of his idols.
